You really up and opened a big can of worms with such an open-ended question.

I will try to give my opinion in a short post.

One thing the JW's have right is that "Religion is a snare and a racket."

I don't think true religion was ever in place on Earth. I could be wrong.

True religion by whos standard of what is true?

If we presume the Bible is God's word and that is the standard of what is true religion, we still can't find one because the Bible contradicts it self.

I don't know how this came to mind........about the true religion, but I don't know that there ever was.

So what are we trying to get back to?

Maybe true religion was never on Earth.......as time goes by I think we come closer and closer to truth.........

I dont think we had it and drifted away from it.

edited to add: This was not to really pick on JW's

Most all religions think they have the true religion.

    Purps,

That's a very open-ended question. What do you mean by "true religion"?

    Purps,

You are being philosophical way beyond your post. In simple short sentences, you are thinking much deeper. You are correct, in my view. There is no way we can return to something we never had. Make the best of what you have. I know you have deep thoughts about JW family and your own personal history. Deep thoughts are fine. We do come closer and closer to the truth, but because history is getting longer and longer, there can only be theories about the past, never foregone conclusions.

Make the best of what you have. Don't let sadness overwhelm you.

In my opinion the phrase true-religion, is an oxymoron; and can be an especially painful one because it boldly promises what it can not deliver and generally gives little if any meaningful guidance. The best lesson religion has to offer, is that it is empty of true significance.

The living Truth we seek is boundless and vast, nakedly raw, real and actual, immediate and vibrant as Life itself. Religion, on the other hand, is nothing more than dogmatic beliefs, metalized words and thoughts, ideas and concepts, cadavorous interpretations and facsimiles. In a sense, Truth = reality and life. Religion = death; foolishly offering you it's own antithesis. Which it can never deliver. Religion is the ultimate deceiver.

Religion exists solely in the limited and cramped domain of the mind. Truth, what the word G-O-D feebly points to, is boundless and what the tiny mind exists within, what all existence exists within.

This is why the wise have recommended -- when in search of truth -- that there be stillness of the mind. The mind does not and can not know truth. Nothing the mind can offer is IT. There is no true-belief, no true-religion.

Truth is lived, it is what you really are -- just beneath all that is believed and thought to be.
