I'm been going through my files on the computer and came across a lot of those little booklets we used to hand out. Many of them were outdated. Well no they ALL were outdated. But we were encouraged to hand them out to people especially if they didn't want to contribute for the recent magazines.
Since they were considered "old light" I don't think any JW read them. I know I certainly didn't. There wqas too much recent litterature to take the time to read the old stuff.
We did the same thing with older books that the cong had too much stock of. Every year we were out trying to give these books away.
As X-JWs many of us are more interested in these older books than we ever were while we were in. I was reading a thread by Leolaia earlier today. A JW came in and pretty much blasted the posters for dragging up the old stuff.
When Quotes had his website up the WTS shut him down for making them look foolish by posting their own litterature.
They seem to get very defensive if we present the older publications for the world to see. But it is perfectly OK if they drag out this stuff and offer it to the people in their homes.
The WTS describes their publications as a "feast", "spiritual food". When the feast is old they are told not to read it. But they can feed it to other people
It's sort of like inviting people to dinner and serving food that you would'nt eat yourself. So you serve yourself the good food but your guests get last years rotting left-overs
So appetizing
