Hi loveneverfails, great to have you on the board. Please don't believe that the domineering men amongst the dubs makes all other men the same. You will find MANY men now that you're out that will care for you genuinely.
Look forward to hearing more from you.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys!
I'm hoping to get used to the board design and meet some interesting people.
In response, no I did not have to wear a kleenex over my head while doing the fire alarm haha. I've seen my mom pull the ol' kleenex trick too many times to count...

That is simply insane. I've had elders infringe upon my life to an extent, but that sounds like harassment! I want that sense of freedom too...but I don't want to stop talking to my mother, so I've been in a standstill for a long time.

That's what I told those little bastards in my DA letter, along with words like "legal", "contact my attorney" and so on. They haven't spoken to me since (that was in Feb)

You know the Bible contains some truth, but sadly, male domination of women is not one of the truths. It's easier to scare women with God's wrath than to beat them into submission or jail them. Besides, women ain't too perty with bruised up faces doncha know? Havin' to trek down to the jail everytime you want a meal or some lovin' isn't too convenient. Just convince women that God will murder them or burn their little tails in hell and then you can have them groveling at your feet.
Seriously, that subjection bullcaca is touted to make families happy. It doesn't work! Men become bitter when their wives can't cut the mustard. I know, I was married to a JW.

You should look into lori mcgregor's ministry. She is a lady who is a former JW and she works to show how that women shouldn't be silent in the church. Also, some churches like the Methodist one have women pastors and all sorts of things.
I was fortunate enough to find a man who is dominant in my house but its no where near like what the JWs go through. He takes most of the responsibility but we still make decisions together. I'm fine with a man taking care of me -- but not taking my freedom and thought away. I think I figured out what the Bible was talking about. They knew we women would have our hands full and the Bible wanted the men to do something too -- make the work 50/50.
I know if I had to have a father like my dad was that had all of the say-so, I would puke. Don't let the JW way of doing things screw up your brain anymore!! They damaged us in so many ways.

Charles Trombley, a former Jehovah's Witness wrote on of the best books on the subject of women in the Church. I recommend it.
