Do you know why I returned your money?................

Because I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses! Remember these parts in the assembly? Some "worldly" person looses a large stash of money and then the JW returns it and brings glory to Jehovah's name? These parts used to irritate me for two reasons. The first is I read many newspaper articles on "worldly" people doing the exact same thing. And they did it simply because it was the right thing to do and not because they wanted credit for being a JW. The JW's think they are the only good people in the world and that is frankly pretty arrogant.

Secondly, I had the Jdubs help me and my family move 2x and BOTH times my hubby and I discovered jewlery and other valuables missing! So much for being the most honest and trustworthy people in the world. Also my brother was a manager at a large retail chain and his store was getting robbed from the inside (employees). One night he set up a camera in a secret spot and caught the perp.........you guessed it, it was a an active Jdub! Has anyone else here been robbed by one of the "friends" at the KH? Lilly

My husband was robbed by his JW family!

JWs are the biggest liars and some are the most repugnant thieves!

I had one "borrow" some cds off me, and he tried not to give them back. I had to threaten to teel the elders before he finally, grudgingly, returned them, and one sister borrowed £25 off me and never gave it back, and denied ever borrowing it when I challenged her. After that, no dub ever borrowed a penny off me, I used to refuse them. They aren't trustworthy at all, they just purport to be.

I've heard of an elder stealing in his business. It became known because he wasn't just stealing from dubs. He wasn't disfellowshipped because he knew not to admit to anything (and he may have truly convinced himself that taking money from people to pay their utilities, not paying the utility company, and using the money for personal/business expenses wasn't really stealing). He was removed as elder at least but it seemed pretty weak.

I loaned money to a sister once. She borrowed half of what she needed from her book study conductor (a fairly wealthy man) and half from me. He hounded her weekly for his money and she paid him back almost immediately. Me she never paid. She probably is happy that I've left the dubs so she can pretend that I didn't deserve to be paid back. Learned my lesson. I won't lend money any more.

On a much lesser scale, one little creep of an elder's son stole a DVD that my son had brought to a gettogether. He was seen taking it, but denied it. I don't think he wanted the movie, he just wanted to annoy and harrass my kid.

    Greetings lovelylil,

As crass as this might sound. I've had the "wood put to me" more times than one when I wasn't looking by those snakes in the grass. Never again though, I know how they operate.

Remember too that "Jehovah's Witnesses pay their taxes". Another bullshit story that wanks the audience of dubs ego.

    dismembered,

I am glad you brought up the taxes issue. My hubby and I were discussing our tax refund with one of the elders at a get together. And his refund was like 3x the amount we got back. We were in the same income bracket, same amount of kids, niether of us owned a home at that time. My hubby asked him how that is possible and the "elder" responded "you have to know how to be creative with your deductions, if you know what I mean?" and then winked at my husband. We just sat there with our mouths opened and this guys wife seeing our expression quickly changed the subject. Thank you for your comment, Lilly

Yes! I had two of my grandmother's rings disappear! I'm sure they weren't worth a whole lot of money, but one was a small diamond set in gold and the other an emerald. They were old and were about all I had from her. I still try not to think so hard about the loss.

I was assigned to 2 book study groups in private homes where there were locks on the bedroom doors and medicine cabinet.

It seemed that "someone" was taking prescription medication and also taking cash and jewelry from the bedrooms. They even found food missing from the cupboards.

I would say that the vast majority of JWs were not thieves as is true of non-JWs. The problem with JWs if you have little legal recourse to retrieve your belongings.

There was a case of a single Sister™ in this area about 15 years ago who was caught embezzling money from her non-JW employer. Nobody could figure out how she could afford her lavish expenditures on the meagre salary she was earning.... well, until they figured out that she was stealing from the company. She was terminated from her job, got arrested and has a criminal record, plus the congregation DFd her so that none of The Friends™ could show her any support during her hearings (and so that the congregation could say that it was untarnished by her criminal activity ).

I also had books, videos and CDs "borrowed" from me by JWs, never to see them again. My folks used to have a copy of The Photodrama of Creation (which they received from an elderly JW as a gift shortly before she passed away)... unfortunately, they had the Book Study in their house and the book just "vanished" one day from its hiding place.

I worked with a JW for a couple of years... she would come in late and leave early, take extended coffee breaks and lunches, use the company phone to make long distance calls, take home office supplies, use the postage meter to send personal mail. She excused it by saying that she was Pioneering™, and that because her dad and the boss were buddies, it wasn't a problem.

There was a sister from Queens NY who stole thousands of dollars from her employer and was caught. She was arrested and ordered to pay the money back, but she was not Dfed. A couple of years later she stole thousands of dollars from a different employer and was sentenced to prison leaving a husband and 2 small children behind.

This time she was dfed, but her husband couldn't divorce her because she hadn't committed adultery.
