Two years and ANOTHER 1000 Ways to Say 'Thank You, JWD!!'

Two years ago today I registered on JWD. This is my 1000th post on my second JWD account.

My life has changed in many ways - both big and small.

A big THANK YOU to everyone for your participation in this board. I read much more than I post and have gained so much from being here.

This past year saw big changes for me. The most positive ones were: Ending once-and-for-all a relationship that had long run its course; Loss of two pets; Purchase of my new home (which I love!); Aposta-meet-ups! - Several small, local ones.

I've met a couple dozen JWD posters and am so pleased to call them 'friends'.

We all have our stories to tell; variations on a similar theme.

I look forward to the coming year with much more optimism than ever before. Thank you ALL for helping along my journey...!!

I don't think it's said often enough, but Thank You, Simon and Angharad!! Thank you for all your efforts in establishing and maintaining this site. I am forever grateful.

Here here!! I am also totally thankfull to the people who made JWD for us! I have met the most caring, supportive people on here....and I am looking forward to making 1000 too!!

PS...I read some of your posts and wanted to know what kind of motorcycle you have?

megsmomma - Oh yes! My bike - another change I made as JWD helped me see the importance of really getting on with my life and doing things I had always just mused about. I have a Yamaha Virago 535. It's an '83. I bought an older, used bike so I test out whether I would like being the 'rider'. I've always enjoyed being on the back - but actually riding the bike is a completely different experience.

My husband bought a Honda when we first got together and I rode with him. He let me ride it myself once...and I went about 10 feet on it and got really scared. It was a really heavy bike though, so it makes sence that I was nervous! His parents both have bikes though...and his momma LOVES it! I really love the feeling of getting on a bike and experiencing the world like that.....so free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, someday, I do want to get my own! We will wait till our baby gets a bit older though.

My dad had bikes all his adult life and was in a couple accidents....not his fault, people hit him at stop signs, and he can't ride or do much physical because of his back injuries, so I have seen the "bad"side to it.

We sold the bike when I was preggo......But, I am looking forward to getting another one. I want a honda gold wing to cruise around on!

AK - Jeff: Thanks for the compliments. I really like my screen name, too and was thrilled to have found one that was so appropriate for this forum. 'Dare to Know; Dare to Have Wisdom/Understanding' 'Dare to Think for Yourself.' It was so daring for me to join that I *still* get sweaty palms when I think back to that day!! There is a core group of people who I regularly follow. You are part of that group. Thanks for being here.

Ozziepost: I don't see you here too often anymore. How have you been?? I liked my old account, too and which I could have maintained it to see a more fluid transition.

Megsmomma: Your last post made me smile! A bike that is too big is just too dangerous for a newbie!! I took a motorcycle riders safety class last summer (part of a birthday present to my self - the bike was the other part). Couple weeks later when I bought my bike, I specifically looked for a bike where I could reach the ground with both feet. I'm only 5'2" so not too many choices there without having to make more modifications (new seat, etc). And I really didn't want anything too heavy. It's more important that I take the bike for a ride rather than the other way around...! This has turned out to be just the perfect starter bike. My preference is still to ride passenger - like you said, that feeling of just being freeee! Back of a bike is about the only place where I feel I fully give up all control and just enjoy the ride. But it's been alot of fun having and riding my own. Completely different experience, with a very different sense of freedom. I don't think I'd do it if I had young children, though.
