They have pretty much left 1914 doctrene and kept their authority. Just not over me.
How the Society can almost drop 1914 and STILL retain their authority

Logic has nothing to do with belonging to a cult, so there is every possibility that your reasoning will work. All they need to say is along the lines of what they said for every failed prediction made so far:
IN MY WORDS
"Those who truly love God should not be serving with dates in mind, but out of love for the only true God, Jehovah. And who are the only people on earth serving Jehovah? Those of us that belong to Jehovah's organization. Jehovah has used dates in the past to test the hearts of his true followers".
IN WATCHTOWER WORDS
Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Divine Purpose p.52 " There is no doubt that many throughout this period were overzealous in their statements as to what could be expected. Some read into the Watch Tower statements that were never intended …”
Studies in the Scriptures Series II 1916 ed. foreword “This was a natural mistake to fall into, but the Lord overruled it for the blessing of His people.“
Watch Tower 1916 February 1 “We inferred from this that the Church’s ‘change’ would take place on or before that date. But God did not tell us that it would be so. He permitted us to draw that inference; and we believe that it has proven to be a necessary test upon God’s dear saints everywhere.”
July 15, 1976, TheWatchtower “If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises.”

Drop 1914? They'd have to start softening up the r&f for years!
They are. They have eight years to go.

Shoot after watching the WTBTS change their position on blood over the years and organ transplants I think they could change the 1914 by just denying they ever said that and get away with it. The rank and file are so darn gullible they would accept anything the old Goats called the Governing Body say. Sad but true.

When you beleive that the GB is directed by God, no matter what they say it will be beleived by the rank and file.
Most of us beleived it for decades. How sad !
Now you look at your own intelligent friends still in it and wonder when they will wake up but i know it will not happen.
Most of them have too much invested in it, socially and family ties.

Great Thread!
The Society will have to drop the 1914 doctrine sooner or later. It has to happen. For Pete's sake, it's nearly 2014!!!!!!
However, the majority will swallow whatever c%$p the FDS manage to produce. Then there are the others. The ones that just might start researching and checking up on the bOrg on the internet.
How many will drop to their knees and weep when they realised they've been well and truly royally screwed by the bOrg I shudder to think, but enough to say that the writing's on the wall for the WTBTS. They may well continue to exist after such a huge change in doctrine is FORCED upon them BUT they will never, ever be that big religion, with that big business, in the heart of New York City!
Time will kill the Watchtower, if they donn't commit suicide first!

The 'investigative judgment' idea was criticised and debunked a couple of years ago in a WT article and said to have no basis in the Bible, so it would not be easy suddenly to pop up with idea and state it DOES have such a basis.

Gill, that was me when I found out about 1995's change, 1975, the UN, 607, parousia, Malawi, etc. etc. etc.
(Okay, I held it in, not weeping- I'm a guy.)

Jesus lacks efficiency!
An investigation is only necessary where there is ignorance of fact. If Jesus is ignorant, in my opinion, he is not the best candidate for King.
The current JW policy has had Jesus enthroned in heaven since 1914. What does King Jesus have to show for his years in office?
The one True religion, which he spoonfeeds information, reflects a bizarre record of error and confusion as to matters which should by crystal clear by now. The preaching work has set target dates for events which never happen. The flow in and the flow out of God's organization is a leaky pipe.
There is nothing miraculous or noteworthy about this invisible regime and it reflects poorly on Jesus' kingship.
It is almost enough to lead one to suspect there is NO JESUS there at all!
There are fewer and fewer reasons each day to think of the messege of Jehovah's Witnesses as anything other than a terrible mistake that has compounded each decade.
Stinkin' thinkin' has led the Society to where it is now. New switching of dates cannot dig out the dry rot in their fossilized hardness of heart and obstinacy of conviction.

I wish I could agree with the statement, i wish it would happen today but you look at every congregation and even though there is hardly any one coming in........ there is always children by the 1000's being influenced and eventually baptized.
The Watchtower needs to screw up badly with their doctrines for many individuals to realize it is a load of crap and walk away but just like Mormons, Seven day adventist and many religions they continue to grow due to children.
The GB should put a ban on having children because the end is so near and then we might see it crumbling
