What a terrible article. Yes JW's are a cult and it prohibits things like birthdays and such. But the person was not forced into not celebrating. You are not forced into the cult.
Also this comes from a Uzbekistan, I would have to say that a lot of things they approve off are things you or I would think are not acceptable.
Goes to show the extent of what some go to badmouth what they used to be because they are so bitter.

that article is a joke . after reading some of it and the acceptance of other mind controling cults over the j-dubs is absurd . Islam is even worse than being a j-dub , women are treated like dirt , this person is worried about not celebrating holidays when Islam would ban it as well and even have them wearing bukas and walking several paces behind their men .

I am still amazed that governments like this still exist in so many parts of our globe. I can't imagine not having the freedom and expectation of justice that I do. Why don't they rise up and take control of their homelands. This is the danger with disarming citizens.
