    LOL good point!

my mother would always get mad at me for starting my door2door presentation with "i'm one of jehovah's witnesses." i would reply to that by asking her what we have to hide? seems everyone wants to get a message across before getting the true message across, because they know the true message is bitter and only by luring people in with sweetness first, will they ever accept the bitter.

    Moshe said:

It's about saving money, too. When the Faithful Slave idea is quietly dropped, and it will be soon, there will be no need to print a new study book! Looks to me like the G-Body couldn't agree on a teaching to put into this book.

Moshe, I am respectfully curious: On what do you base this assumption? I can tell you from the inside that the Slave doctrine is at the forefront like never before, in the WT and in comments, talks and prayers. If anything, I see an escalation of the idea, no evidence that it will be dropped. T

A bible student will find out abot the FDS when they go over The 80 questions before their baptism and by then the complete brainwashing is complete and there is no turning back.

They do the same with df'ing. And 1914 is discussed only in the Appendix. More deception. tsof

ha ha ha! That opening pitch is about as good as, "Hello, I'm a magazine salesman."

It seems to me that they have taken out all of this in order to make people think they are simply joining up because of true doctrines, not because it is Gods organization. It can be hard for people to buy into that idea right away, but given time they can get you in their trap. So now they don't even teach their fundamental doctrine and prophecy at all to the public! It instead remains somewhat 'hidden' only to be truly understood by somebody after they have made a deep emotional commitment to the religion.

This is exactly what happened to me when I started studying in 1972. I THOUGHT I was hooking up with a group of independent bible scholars that were discussing the bible free of any preconceived notions. By the time I was learning about loyalty to the organization, DF'ing etc my head was stuck so far into it, it took fifteen years to get it back out.

I think the the WTBS has been using this bait and switch tactic for a long time. Maybe they're just getting better at it.

What do I base this on?- past practice. Back in the 1970-1975 era all the brothers talked about among themselves was the coming battle of Armageddon and how fortunate JW's will be when we are saved from the global destruction.- I did see this happen first hand. After 1975 nobody even wanted to admit they had their hopes up. The Jan 1st 2007 WT has created a big crack in the teachings that the GB/faithful slave was somehow empowered after 1919 to run God's one true religion on earth. They can't sucessfully defend their position as history shows they were only sucessful in making wrong predictions. You don't need Holy Spirt to create false teachings, doctrines and prophecies, do you? Eventually even the most rabid JW will have to admit they were duped into believing that the GB/f&d SLAVE were being directed by Holy Spirit and had the God-given right to control the beliefs, teachings and personal life of individual Jehovah's Witnesses- Well, they don't have that right or power given to them from God.

Some of you are still limping along hoping that Jehovah will fix your broken faith in his organization. Well, He has already shown you the door and a way to get out. Stop fighting your conscience and get out already, just like you should have done back in 1976.

WOW, Moshe. Way to flame anyone who doesn't agree with you.

They don't think like rational people. Neither do the faithful. I agree with others that the GB will be strengthened in their teachings, not put aside. History will be written (by them) to misdirect what happened, as usual. Eventually, even the most rabid JW will be ABLE TO CONVINCE A WEAK JW that the GB is correct on all matters.

I do believe they will eventually abandon the teachings that there is a governing body on earth- way off in the future when the religion is morphing into mainstream. But I don't believe they themselves are ready to accept that conclusion. They are just setting up a doctrine that their earthly "other sheep" are being guided by the likes of CT Russell and F. Franz from heaven. This way, they can ignore and reduce the FDS by intimidation, while keeping a GB. Expect witch hunts to question everyone who claims FDS status unless they have one foot in the grave. Expect the GB to eventually appoint "other sheep" to their ranks after the oldest ones die.

Are they going to continue watering down the understanding of the Governing Body? Yes. But they will explain why these guys must be followed. If they put other sheep in there, if people point to their mistakes, they will write the appropriate articles to tell the faithful, "Unity before accuracy." "CT Russell told us what to do." Some crap like that. Notice their own current teaching:

The world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses is in New York. Located there is the Governing Body, a central group of experienced elders who oversee the worldwide congregation. (from http://www.watchtower.org/library/rq/article_14.htm)

Otherwise, I appreciate your straightforwardness, Moshe, to any who think the organization is going to fix itself. They are not.

Keep in mind, we can have our opinions. Mine might be just as wrong (or right) as yours. Those guys are nuts.
