Do you find that the president is still out in left field after today's news conference with Blair and Himself? I can't believe after what they have been handed they continue to exact rules before they sit down and talk to everyone in the region.

What happened to "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer?" Something has to change and it isn't just troop levels. Bush, in my opinion still doesn't get it. Everyone in that area of the world has to be involved or nothing changes, we continue to lose sons, we are losing Billions of dollars and worse, there are according to a report I saw last night, 100,000 wounded vets from this war who have not been taken care of yet.

I did not see the news conference, but wanted to comment on this. When they talk about the count of deaths, in some ways it seems relatively low. Then you look at the wounded............a total count is never mentioned. These guys are coming home without limbs, blind, etc etc.......
I wonder how many dollars it is going to cost in the long run to care for these men.

And I still feel like the death count is being covered up.

Purps, the wounded is staggering, and to think so many thousands are still waiting on care is depressing. That 10,000 (and it may be more) are still waiting for care and benefits for their families... the claims sit unprocessed. And we are worried about those in Irag who continue to kill each other? This war is disgusting.

I would not be surprised if the total count is 100,000. The last time I read anything about it, it was between 50-60,000. I don't know what you mean when you say 10,000 have not been cared for yet. In what way?

I am very much supportive of communication to solve any problem, no matter who the problem is with, or what the problem is.

I think it is insanity to not talk to Iran and Syria. I can't understand their reasoning.

Purps, we crossed messages, did you see what I wrote. These guys are waiting for benefits, care and help for their families because they cannot earn a living....some have been waiting over a year.

So apparently I was not off on total wounded.

It's bad enough they are wounded, but then to have to wait for benefits is insult to injury.

I will read about bush and blairs meeting.

Just want to mention that it was reported it will be over 2 TRILLION DOLLARS, after all wounded vets are cared for over their life time..... as of now! So every day we are there the price goes up and guess what..... we will be paying, and our children will be paying for the rest of our lives.

Count on your taxes going up, and SS going down. This money has to come from somewhere.

The entire world moves faster than every before. It's a shame that democracy doesn't happen so quickly.

It's the same tired old story over and over, about how America needs to 'spread Democracy and Freedom'. To bad that Democratic countries take time to develop, usually after many generations. The fact is that it happens when the time is right, and the people of the particular nation are ready for it. I don't think Iraq was ready for it. It is a forced Democracy, one that is doomed to fail.

The worst part about it all is what the focus of this topic is about. What should the U.S.A. do? Bring in the foreign nations and say 'well, now that we screwed up the region why don't you help us fix it eh???'. We already have a bad enough relationship with the Middle Eastern nations as it is.

The war has boxed America into a corner without any good options, plain and simple.
