It is their loss if they avoid you.
They do this under Watchtower control mechanisms.
Who needs friends that shun you?
kind regards

Belmont!
greetings and Welcome aboard! I guess people living inside the Watchtower has much the same chanses of seing anything as the people harrased by the Taliban regime.
Fortunately, someone gets away, and can start a happy life else where.
See ya!

Hi Belmont, and welcome!
Unfortunately, they can see no farther than the shortcomings of the local elders. not recognising that the whole edifice is corrupt.
Yes, that is very unfortunate. Unfortunate for them, and for those who love them.
It's difficult to admit to yourself that everything you've been clinging on to for years is nonsense.
You certainly siad a mouth full there. It's SO true. It's difficult to admit. And once it is admitted, it is difficult to cope with. As the saying goes,...the truth hurts.
How does one respond to them without frightening them away?
I wish so bad I had an answer for that question. I don't. The only thing I can suggest is that you keep close to those you love and are dear to you. The more time you spend with them, the more they may trust what you eventually feel you have to tell them.
I'm sorry that you've been treated so unloving by some, and my thoughts will be with you. The ones who hurt you and walked away from you seem to think that unloving behavior is imitating Jesus. I hope that someday they come to see that they are obeying the rules of a group of men, and nothing more, by their behavior. Meanwhile, I think some good points were made, and you're not alone at all in your circumstances. And whoever it was that suggested saying something about it being a test when they can no longer look to the organisation for salvation ( or something to that nature) had a good suggestion.
Dogpatch,
Thank you for sharing Gary's work with us. whoever he is, he's a riot!
