Sometimes non-JWs are too nice about saying no....

Tell him nicely, but be direct.

"I studied once (or how many times) just to see what it was about. I don't want to pursue it farther. Please do not e-mail or phone me any more."

Then see what happens. If he continues, then block his e-mails and don't answer his phone calls.

I would not incourage him at all. If he thinks there is a way to get you into the BORG he will never stop. Run, hide, just don't incourage him. How ever you could have some fun teasing him with question that you know he can't answer. I am sure you can find alot of them here on this site.

    Good luck

Email him back with some hyperlinks to a few porn sites. Tell him that this is what I am studying now because it appears to be far more interesting.

Trust me, it will work on the first try.

Sometimes JWs will flee away from somebody that actually understands something they teach to well. For instance...

Telling a JW you think it is absurd to believe that Jesus chose their organization in 1918/1919 and rejected all other christians. Ask why it is so easy for JWs to think everybody else on the planet is crazy, when they teach that kind of junk.

Teachings about how their religion has been personally selected by God and how they alone are the path to salvation are hidden from new potential members. JWs almost never have to answer to challenges to these doctrines. This is common in many cults. They hide the more 'wacky' stuff so that you only find it out after you have commiteed yourself to the religion. When they get a challenge they usually can't handle it.

Tell him about this (props go to jwfacts for the info)

One of the great Watchtower lies is that it always foretold 1914 was to start the conclusion of the system of things. I have just put together an article comparing what the Watchtower said prior to 1914, to the claims it makes today. It is very revealing as to the honesty of Watchtower propoganda. This appears at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/1914dates.htm

Zion’s Watch Tower 1894 July 15 p.227 “But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning , but for theend of the time of trouble .

Awake! 1973 January 22 p.8 “… Jehovah's witnesses pointed to the year 1914, decades in advance , as marking the start of "the conclusion of the system of things.”

One of the most misleading statements in Watchtower publications is that they accurately foretold 1914 to be the ‘start’ of the conclusion of the system of things. In reality 1914 had consistently been predicted to be the ‘end’ of the system of things.
