Bright spots after having left the organization

Often, after having left the organization a person experiences
a host of negative emotions regarding their life in the Watch-
    Tower Society.

It can consist of anger, bitterness, depression, and even
    hatred for what was lost.

However, there could be some bright spots in a person's
life after having left the organization.

What are your personal bright spots?

Personally, I am thankful that I have my life pretty
much intact. In addition, a college education and
even a former best friend who was a witness
contacting me to become friends again.

What bright spots have you had in life; after
    life in the Watchtower?

    Thank you for your response.

    Respectfully,

    The Wanderer

Getting to gether with my boyfriend, who will soon be my husband, is the best thing that has happened to me since leaving.

Seeing one of my best friends in the org leave a few months ago has been a high spot

I have a better job where I work now, plus more freedom that I've had in years.

I can look forward to Christmas and New Year now, instead of avoiding them

Being able to make my own decisions, without fear of what I do being disapproved of by the elders or other jws

Being on this board, and getting to know so many really nice people has bee a big plus for me.

The feeling of a HUGE burden lifted off my shoulders

Seeing things as they really are, not as the borg want you to see them

    Thinking for myself

Feeling that I can control my life now that the borg doesn't

    Christmas!!!!

I now feel that I have a relationship with God and His Son

I now enjoy reading the Bible as never before

I speak of the Bible because I want to not because I needed time

I enjoy not looking over my shoulder for anyone

Have lost all fear of men

    Mentally clearer, spiritually clearer

The bright spot that comes to mind for me 23 years after having left the organization is I have a better understanding of life and how the world works. I've had a reality check.

See a lot of goodness and generosity in "worldly people" much more than the JW themselves.

Stopped looking at every event in the world and trying to analyze according to the scriptures.

Freedom to read what I choose.

Freedom to listen to the music that I choose and the movies that I watch.

Freedom to be myself and not some Watchtower robot.

Freedom from the fear of some petty, small god that wants to destroy most of mankind.

So to sum it up, I guess I have been set free. I couldn't ask for much more than that.
