    Welcome!!

This is a beginning, not an end! Grieve for the loss of what you thought you had.. and then rejoice, for what you have found is better!!

Welcome, I look forward to reading many more of your posts. Most here felt the same as you. I felt like I was going to explode with everything I had learnt. I was so excited, liberated, relieved and yet uncontrollably angry. I could not stop talking about it to my family. Unfortunately, rather than them be happy to find out about these things they decided to choose the Watchtower Society over their own son. Before talking to your father over your findings have some discussion on the best methods on this board. I also recommend reading Releasing the Bonds by Steven Hassan. If you do not take the right approach there is a very likely chance that you will be shunned.

You have an intriguing experience, I have never heard of anyone wanting to know how the world reacted to 1975. Generally JWs assume that the world is taking note of them, being stung by their scorpion tailed magazines. I have an article at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/1975.htm that lists most of the Watchtower references to 1975. If you found any interesting information in secular sources I would love to know.

There is some information on the 1290, 1355 and 2300 days at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/revelation.htm I counted the days and could not believe that the days don't even match up, sometimes by a matter of months. The last time I ever went to the book study was during the Daniel book. Prior to that I spent years as a fading non believer, but that book just made me too irrate to waste any more time sitting and listening to obvious garbage. My mother is a COW (circuit overseers wife) and said a lot of JWs would complain to her about that book or refused to go to the book study during it.

    Welcome Elinor!

Several years ago when the Watchtower started really pushing the evils of the Internet, it became obvious to me that it was only a matter of time.

People use the Internet for everything today! Banking, research, bussiness, education, communications, you name it. There is no way they can continue to convince people that the Internet is evil.

    Wlecome!

I, too, was raised in the "Truth". Spent about a quarter century waisting my life in fear of God and his Armageddon... Watchtower.

I can tell you it took me years to get that little JW devil off my shoulder (deprogram) but in time it will happen. I have many family that have been shunning me for a long time, but the one that really hurts is my 21 y.o. daughter. Haven't hard her voice sense she turned 19.

You'll learn plenty here. Many facts the Tower expect the rank and file to either be ignorant of, or ingnore.

    Best,

    Bryan
