I have a Sams Club StarCaster, once the strings was lowered, it played just as good as my step-dad's Fender Stratocaster, and looks and sounds like it too.

SG's are great.
Any SG or SG style guitar are good. The strings play close to the neck and it is a little shorter resulting in the strings not being as hard to press. Plus humbuckers sound great. But if you need a tremolo... this guitar will not work.
Who needs a tremolo? Get a slide!!!
