How did you choose your avatar or board name?

    I really do not like my name and wish I could change it. As for my avatar, I have changed it many times and like the new one best.

    I was lurking for a couple of days and then came to a thread with a link to another thread. The linked thead was 'private' so I was *forced* to join.

    I'm not very creative when it comes to alias's and didn't want to give any personal info about myself.

    I stared at the registration screen and my palms got all sweaty. 'Do I or don't I?' It was very daring at the time. I logged on with the nick: I_Dare.

    A day or two later I was reading an article that mentioned a latin phrase: Aude Sapere.

    Aude Sapere means: Dare to Know; Dare to Have Wisdom/Understanding. It also means: Dare to Think for Yourself.

    I think it's a perfect alias for this site.

    So here I am. Two years, two months (and Two Accounts) later.

    I chose Abandoned because that's how I feel too much of the time. I'd been raised to believe that god loved us and took care of us but my experiences suggested he'd better things to do than concern himself with lowly humans.

    I chose the avatar because it's a recent picture of me.

    I first came in as a confused JW. I'd done much research on the subject of confession, and was finding hypocrisy I couldn't set aside--try as I might. Now I like the name. Coming out of the organization has helped me feel free to express what I really think about things. Kind of like confessing.

    It's funny, but I gave mine absolutley no thought when I signed up. When I first came to the forum; I had no intention of being a poster. When I wanted to send a PM; I was required to set up an alias; and so I simply typed in the first random name that popped into my head.

    Later on, when I started posting and wanted to set up an avatar; Dudley Moore seemed like a good match for my alias "Arthur".

    P.S. - I don't normally post on this forum while naked and wearing a top hat. Only on special occassions.

    what was the maximum I could get away without breaking board rules.

    stillajwexelder --- I think 90 ZZZZZZ is the maximum.

    'Kaput' is the state of my relationship with Joe Hovah & his miscreant borganization. The lone wolf symbolizes individualism.
