Were you present for your DF/DA announcement? Would you choose to be?

If you've already been 'announced' and were at the Kingdom Hall to hear it, how did it feel? And why were you there anyway?! I think when my time comes I may be there. A part of me says "sod 'em", but another part wants them to see how happy I am.

    Hmmm, not sure.

We found out that they announced Mr Scully as having "written a letter and disassociated" himself.... get this... almost a YEAR after the fact.

All the more proof to me of the underhanded, deceitful horsemanure goings-on among JWs.

I was present because I made the announcement myself

However I understand they added insult to their own injury by announcing it again the following Thursday, for which I wasn't present. It made me feel like they were complete automatons who were so strung up by their own rules that they had to go ahead and re-inflict it on themselves in a vain attempt to reassert their own perceived authority.

Little Toe, How did you come to make the announcement yourself? Sounds like it would make for an interesting service meeting.

I was not there the night my DF was announced nor did I set foot in a KH until my uncles funeral/infomercial a few years later and that was the last time.

No I wasnt there for mine and would not be there if I had to do it over again. I only went to the JC to ask them how they felt they were justified in doing what they did as each one on my case just sat there and was hoping that I didnt bring up offenses in which I knew that would disqualify them from being an elder. It wasnt a matter of humiliating them but rather to show that even though they carried the stick they did not qualify to do so yet alone swing it and that they were a complete failure to Christ as a Shepherd, I have not seen or heard of any elder in over 6 years since my DFing, I asked for all 7 to be present and couldnt get that. I know how things worked, the good ole boy system, but to me; my accountabilty is to Jehovah and Christ and not to men, they know what I know.

Yes, I did attend when I was DFed.

I wasn't going to let the elders think they had defeated me and, since I had several family members and friends in the congo, I knew it was going to be hard on them to hear my announcement and I wanted them to know that I wasn't deserting them. It was now their choice as to whether or not they were going to desert me.

I'd probably go. If they are going to go to the trouble of d/fing me the least I can do is make them as uncomfortable as possible. Seems only right.
