The answers you receive for this could be many and varied. Im a Christian and still believe in the bible, I feel that the WT Society is part of Satans plan for the Antichrist. I believe they have courted politician on the sly for many years, all th while pretending they are neutral. I may be wrong, there may be other explanations. I certainly dont believe this has ever been or will be God's true religion. Junction Guy

The more I research the early history of the Watchtower Society and compare it with the transformation it has undergone, the more I tend to agree with Dave.

NEW WORLD ORDER NEW WORLD TRANSLATION of the HOLY SCRIPTURES NEW SYSTEM of THINGS NEW LIGHT

By the force of events many of these secrets are now being unlocked

by the Great Interpreter himself. (Dan. 2:47) From these it is possible to obtain a clearing vision of the details which will operate in the new world order of things . Actually the new order of things is already taking shape and will be fully operating at Armageddon time to fill the vacuum left after the cataclysmic disappearance of the old order. For this reason God’s witnesses on earth are now diligently studying the Holy Scriptures to fully examine the numerous shadows, principles, methods, procedures and systems employed by societies of God’s servants in Biblical times. God’s dealings with those ancient societies foreshadowed many developments in the new world order of things.

My theories on the start up of this organization can not be stated here. Nor anywhere.

Hi folks, I've been reading your comments in this forum for awhile now, and they certaintly have been enlighting, but I'm interested in your

ideas on who, why and how the organization started, and how did it maintain itself for all these years. What was the underlining intent of the people who started

this religion, was it an honest attempt to tell a message that they thought was inportant or was it opportunist effort to aline themselves with god in an effort

to cull power towards themselves. Certainly it has to noted that this organization started in a country where freedom of religion, press and speech are guaranteed by the goverment.

Was this too easy of a platform for people to start their own religion? Keep in mind though, the people who did start things off where in fact whealthy businessmen !

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on this..............

People who think literal read what is spiritual and try to adapt it "according to the flesh", and their own fears and pride cause them to loose insight and even use the ignorance against others - it seems to bring out the worst in them, to the point that it becomes diificult to determine whether the attitude allures people to join, or whether the attitude develops after joining.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once upon a time there was said to be a great treasure, and it was believed that it could be found by deciphering the ancient writings that spoke of it, Many went to great effort in the quest for it, yet the treasure was hidden in plain view. When someone believed that they had found clues they would invest all they had in their assumption, and in zeal they would come under the spell of their own pride, and work tirelessly toward nothing.

One such spell spread among people over a hundred years ago. In the quest they looked at the ancient writings, and, not seeing, they made their own stories up, and they looked at the ancient writings and not, seeing they made their own stories up, and they looked at the ancient writings not seeing they made their own stories up.

I think Russell started it with good intentions. It was just that he was wrong. But it kept going. And sadly nobody has stopped the sham since the people at the top like the power and the money.

I also believe CT Russel started the religion up with the best of intentions, money was not the goal. The same could be said of William Miller and perhaps a host of other individuals. The problem is that many of these individuals start to feel as if they are god's channel and then rely too much on their own understanding or hunches and start teaching these things as truth. I think the organization today is stuck in this mindset.
As for the money issue, although money is important to keep the organization running, that is not their focus and I think it is a little dishonest to imply that without giving greater evidence. From the way the governing body lives, it is a far cry from the lifestyles of the rich and famous. I am not saying there aren't some perks like traveling first class and so on but I think it is more of the power that intoxicates the GB.

Well as of last Friday I would have saidf it started with the good intent of speading the word of God as believed by Russell. I would have said it was a good (even if bizarre) attempt to help people.

Then I read the training program given by Russell himself and another Bible Student at a convention 1906 Training for Colporteurs - a real eye-opener

It was a real shock to read that Russell wanted people out there selling books - not actually talking to them. In fact he wanted less talk and more sales.

I'm ticked off. It was so easy to say it started rather benignly until Rutherford took over. Well from what I have read Rutherford took Russell's little book publishing company and transported it into the multi-million dollar company that we have today.

It was never about preaching. It was about selling books - lots and lots and lots of books
