I agree with Mary, it is annoying when they pretend they are the only honest people in the world, and it is downright arrogant! Lilly

So true Mary.
They continue to do this because they want JWs to believe that "there is no good worldly person." This has actually been stated from the platform Makes me want to
It's a lie. But it has been found to be a good control tactic.

My brother dropped his wallet at the mall and when he got home he got a phone call, someone had found it and called. He bought the guy dinner for his good deed.

Last year my hubby did a good deed while at work. The woman emailed his employer to let him know what my hubby had done and to thank him again. My hubby was touched that she did that and showed it to his family while we were over for dinner a short while later. His family said it was because he was a Witness and that it's likely that none of the other employees would have done the same thing. I wanted to barf and scream at them at the same time! They didn't know at the time that we hadn't been to a meeting in several years and I wanted to keep it that way, so didn't say too much, other than I'm pretty sure any of the other guys would have done the same thing.
It's so sickening sometimes that they can't see how good people really are - it's all about JW'S, as if they are the only good people in the world.

I hate articles like this because they give a false impression that only JWs are honest and people from other religions are not.
The thing that is sad (and for which there are no statistics because it is hidden) are how many JWs are defrauded or taken advantage of by other JWs in one way or another. I have heard the most appalling stories of what people have tolerated. Lawsuits are discouraged because they don't want the "world" to know their dirty laundry so too many JWs swallow the loss and keep it to themselves. I long ago learned not to have any business dealings with people there because they are simply unreliable and I have no intentions of being victimized by anybody there. And, they don't like you if you won't let yourself be victimized. Some congregations are crawling with con-artists! They will rationalize their actions to themselves and not feel they are doing any wrong and that something is "owed" to them and their brother or sister has to forgive them. Thus, no sin!
So, we will never know if that wonderful JW who made a public display of how honest they were to a non-JW will turn around and victimize their so-called brother.

LHG,
I know a brother that had a cleaning business and he made a point of NOT hiring JW's because they were not reliable. My dad had a cleaning business and he never had JW"s work for him either (he had about 17 employees).

Matt 6:1,2 “Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. 2 When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
"That's all I got to say about that".

All the 'jws are the only good people' crap makes me want to scream. Anytime I brought up a question to my mom about the witnesses having the truth, she would always reply with: "Well, we are the only people on earth living a good, honest, and loving life according to the bible."
In the organization I know more liars, theives, cheaters and abusers of children, wives and alcohol than I have ever met in the world.

ABR....exactly! It's always made me sick to hear them do this. They apply the scriptures they want and ignore the fact that when they boast, they are having their reward in full. No one wants to hear bragging and boasting in an obvious attempt to appear superior to others.

I recently saw an article in an online newspaper about a Jw who returned found money.
I wrote a reply that basically stated I was tired of seeing these things 'advertizing' Jw's as exemplary people -and that my 40 years of experience showed differently. I saw plenty of thieves, tax cheats, adulterers, child molesters, rapists, and liars among them. Not to mention that as an organization they sanction the 'sacrifice of children' and just general hatred toward others.
