    A friend of mine sent me a link today for a rare book on the occult printed in 1933. It has an article on pages 539-540 on Russell and the Russellites. And in the index on page 737 it lists Russell's name with a Mason symbol next to it. You can save this whole book to your computer. It is a research work and has information of the origins of occult practices and groups such as Masons, Mormons, Russellites, Illuminati, Knights of the Templar and much more. Here is the link;

    Thanks, that is an amazing look at occultism in the history of religion. The following quote is a very accurate and succinct summary of the start of Russell's religion. Though still proclaiming their conculsions as final the second part of the paragraph shows just how far the Watchtower has changed.

    "The Russellite teaching, drawing its own arbitrary conclusions and proclaiming them as final, professes to
    prove from Biblical sources that all Christian churches are evil and corrupt, that the time of the Gentiles ended
    in 1914, and that the Jews must henceforth reign supreme over the world. It also elaborates an occult dogma
    alleged to be based on biblical precedents."

    So it was "a-cult" from the beginning?

    (I know, doesn't go as well in print)

    Yeah, same thing happened to me. I don't think it's the demons...probably the Masons and their Illuminati buddies.

    I have Occult Theocracy by Edith Starr Miller. Unfortunately, she was not an expert in the field and not considered credable.

    It's nice to see oppinion of that ara, though.

    As a rule, I am not a big conspiracy mut. However, the whole Russell, Freemason, Knights Templar, Illuminati, Skull and Bones thing facinates me. I dont know if any of it's really true but the links raise some cool possibilties and make for good argument and debate. Observation: books from the "era" always change our contemporary perception of events. Those folks were closer to events and by reading you can get what the "real-time" opinions were a lot of times. ~Hill

    One of the most intriguing, and as yet unanswered questions, about the GB, the remnant, and revelatory religious movements in general, is "how do the angels/God communicate with you?"

    I recall an early WTS book wherein they say (close paraphrase): "It doesn't matter to know how, just to know that it does."

    Its true she is not writing as an expert. In the beginning of the book she says that her book is a research work only. She wanted to research the histories behind certain groups. I've doubled checked some of her conclusions to other works by experts and she is pretty spot on. Then in some places she gives her opinion. Which is often comical but oh so true. For instance, I love what she wrote on page 540 about Russell's IBSA;

    "The publications of the International Bible Students Associastion are interesting samples of political propaganda" Yep, she got this one right.

    Anyway this is a rare book and you harldy find it sold anymore. And it is very expensive if you do find one. I want one for myself because I collect religious books and books like this one and the prices on the internet are between $100 and $299, depending on the quality of the book.
