Charity work is not BIG on the WTBTS agenda. This is clearly exposed, and their reasoning of why on the back of the February 1st 2007, Watchtower. This article is discussing the Church of England's new 100 minute Bible.

The article discusses a few points of this Bible and then goes on to say this:

'What about the Christian Greek Scriptures portion of the 100-minute Bible? In the parable of the sheep and the goats, the new version says that Jesus favours those who helped 'anyone, however insignificant,' whereas Jesus reallyh said that he blesses those who do good to his footstep followers - his 'brothers'. (Matt 25:40).

JWs therefore, would only feel it correct to help their fellow JWs. And why would they do this? Because you only get a blessing from Jesus if you help fellow JWs who they believe to be the only 'brothers' of Christ....not anyone else who calls themselves Christian.

So not only do they think Jesus only told them to help fellow JWs but they only do this for what they think they are getting from Jesus...a blessing.

What happened to helping other people for nothing....just because it is a good thing to do?

There is no real love or real charitable giving in the WTBTS which is quite shocking considering that even large companys give to charities regularly. But in the end, that is all the WTBTS is a large and greedy book publishing corporation!!

The WTS corrupts this scripture even further by claiming that Jesus' "brothers" refer only to the 144,000. So, in other words, the only charitable giving by JWs that is approved by the WTS is giving to the WTS!!!

Is it any wonder why so many JWs in need get completely left to their own resources - or have to rely on outside charities for help??

Scully - I agree with you completely. However, I have never seen the WTBTS help anyone who was of the 144,000 either. I have had experience of several elderly JWs who claimed to be of the 144,000. They all died lonely, in old folks homes, and in poverty.

In Jesus' parable of the Good Samaratin, the aid and comfort is given to a person normally despised by Jews in good standing because Samaratins had a notorious history of false worship.

Charity is the very sorest of sore point among Jehovah's Witnesses.

There are no social programs whatsoever to help mothers with their children, teens with upbuilding activities, reading classes for the illiterate; no hospitals, schools, colleges, clinics, support groups nor any education scholarships to enable families to have a better standard of living. Nothing, zero, zip, nada!

It is the very lack of LOVE which is the identifying mark of so-called TRUE Christianity which Jehovah's Witnesses, at their core, are incapable of demonstrating. This attitude and policy flows from the very top of the organization and disease-like has infected every member.

Terry - The WTBTS has corrupted the very meaning of 'love for neightbour' to mean that only giving out WTBTS literature and propaganda is 'love' in their eyes.

When my Aunt was dying, her daughter in law played merry hell with her, and the rest of us who were trying to take care of her, because she felt she should be out preaching WTBTS BS rather than taking care of a dying woman. She had lost the meaning of 'love'!

My mum was asked by a local hospice if she would mind going round her local streets with little envelopes asking for donations. She agreed. BUT, she frightened to silliness that any JW would find out what she had been doing......collecting money to help people!

The WTBTS, as you so rightly pointed out, very conveniently forgets about the good samaritan.

The WTBTS is a warped and twisted, money grabbing organization, right down to its dispicable request that any donations should be made to the WWWork and not to any particular disaster or cause!!

    Dear Gill,

Greetings, and this couldn't possibly be a sore point for any of us, could it!?!?! I understand very clearly where you are coming from. My difficulty personally is my so-called mindset. Many years of relative prosperity have vaporized due to a change in personal circumstances---a reversal of fortune---and the financial future is bleak but for that "mindset." Namely, "Jehovah will provide." That concept is perhaps the last hold over from JWism. I will always remain grateful for what I sincerely believe He has done for me. Cannot prove it and testimony/thoughts from JWD have shown me that there is much more at stake than my simple and trusting belief in the Lord. To the point---I really do not know how to get out there and hustle for work. Years and years of hard physical labor have taken their toll. I'm content to hang wallpaper at 70 years old if I must [Ed Dunlap]. All the efforts of the last several years to work smart, not hard, have come to naught. It's not so much that I personally blame the Society---they deserve the comments you made at the start---I simply do not know how to provide BEYOND my basic needs. I was so pleased to get off public aid after many years of illness. Charity from friends and family [JWs and non-JWs] has seen me through.
I have decided not to stew over this any more. My parents in their want always helped those worse off, and somehow my sibs and I give away more than we keep, as it were. Really foolish, financial-planning-wise, I guess. I have wealthy friends who have a misery I shall never know. I really am all right. Sometimes my art does sell. I have the excitement and anticipation that "Jehovah will provide." I will never apologize for saying that. I simply know nothing else.
Thank you for listening to a very happy "poor" old[er] man!

    Love,

    CoCo

You really are a person after my own heart! When a small child in our family died suddenly (NON Blood transfusion! Non witnesses part of family) A JW member of our family said to me the day before the funeral I will never forget " I think they bring this on themselves with the sort of company they keep."

I'll leave you if you will please to pause and think about that for a moment - that says it all. When did you last see a JW soup kitchen? When did you last see JWs ever do anything other than preach, judge you on your response to it (sheep and goats) or distribute magazines ? Jehovahs Witnesses have really got no concept of True Christianity - 2 Corinthians 9:9 / 9 :7 ( Lavishing upon the needy results in eternal life ) Proverbs 19:7 + 22:9 ( Giving to the poor is lending to God ) They have even twisted Matthew 25 " When did we feed clothe, feed, or visit you [ sheep and goats] " to helping the anointed ( partaking in field ministry ) if that is what Jesus wanted the scriptures would have said " You did not announce my imment arrival " But it doesn't. Ask yourself this, can the mysteries of the universe be answered in simply knocking doors and selling magazines ? " We give them away" yeah well, Supreme court decision wasn't it ?

Jehovahs Witnesses have missed the true meaning of the Bible (conveniently) and risk ruining their salvation by not doing good to others . They want to watch THEY do not become the Goats at Judgement. I urge us all now to observe the words of Aesop - " No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - The Lion and the Mouse. If you can help an old lady cross the street, by all means do so. If you can raise money for good causes (voluntarily of course) please do it. Our kindness will better the tradition of mankind. It is selfless giving that seperates us from the animals and the WTS.

As a humanitarian, the WTS is the enemy of my blood.

    God bless.

It is selfless giving that seperates us from the animals and the WTS - Too true LanDi!

The WTBTS is a blood sucking religion. It leaves its slaves empty in their souls and it can take a long time to rebuild their humanity once they leave.

I found myself hiding my Cancer Charity box, that I keep in my house for visitors, when my parents arrived unexpectedly yesterday. Brought home to my how JWs feel about Charity and giving and how they believe or are taught to believe that if they try to 'improve the world' they are fighting against Jehovah.

Absolutely. The 144,000 are commissioned to "preach the good news" throughout the earth.
That is why the "other sheep" must give to this work- by joining them in their great
worldwide literature distribution work. That is why "other sheep" should not give to any
charities other than WTS. CULT CULT CULT. Mind-control at it's finest- corrupting the
    words of Jesus.
