Yesterday, I was at my Asperger's syndrome support meeting and I found out something very funny and shocking. A well respected figure in my mom's congregation is an active homosexual (No, Minnesota XJW's, I'm not mentioning any names. He's an old man that's close to death, let him die in peace).
My mom prides herself on saying how Jehovah keeps his congregation clean. Looks like he missed a spot.

I don't think it's tragic in one bit. I think it's the funniest thing on earth because this religion tries to make themselves the epitome of "cleanliness" yet he is one of many gay people that are in that church on the "Down Low". Sure, they can say "Jehovah will take care of them when Armageddon comes" but then again, since they first predicted Armageddon's arrival, the US has had 6 major wars, there have been 16 presidents, the Soviet Union was in its infancy and died.
Guess I was considering it from the perspective of the poor ol' fellow's life for the tragedy. The part that I thought would be hilarious was the part you mentioned.

I recently found out about more than one gay (actively) JW. One was pioneering and having his fun on the side. Ye he was not DF DA or publicly reproved. His father is an elder.
Another elderly man did not realize I am acquainted with some of his old friends from the 40s and 50s.
He said things about sex with black men etc, and tripped himself up on the timescale. Long after he was sheep dipped...
Its like every other JW that keeps his mouth shut.
And of course if you are appointed there is the statute of limitations, so after 5 years it is all swept under the carpet.
And then the young MS who went to a leather Ball, and met an elder there. He had been an elder for over 25 years, and yet was into all the role playing stuff.
At the ASSembly where this was shared (despite so-called "judicial confidentiality") they said that even if your sin was secrtet for decades, Jehoobie would ensure his congregation was swept out eventually. Kind of flies in the face of the Kingdumb Misery on "Limitations".

Well, Jehovah must have been on vacation concering the kingdom halls I was in for we had, child molestors, drunkards, drug addicts, adultereres, fornicators, wife beaters, child abusers, slanderers, gossips, liars, and thieves. As a matter of fact, the only thing we didn't have was LOVE.

My teenage children put that idea of Jehovah keeping the congregation clean to rest in a hurry. They told me of so many young ones who were doing just about everything and never telling. And Jehovah was not telling either. They all still remain in good standing today.
