just the other day i was working at a hall and an elder commented twice that young people are leaving the org in a large amount. i thought nothing of it the first time, but he kept up the topic later in the day.huh, i wonder why? maybe the meetings that have more to do with Organizational laws than the bible? or restudying the same books over and over at the cbs?
another point he made was that he was "shocked" that there have been numerous occasions that the congregation files had either been broken into, or attempted to be broke into.

There is no doubt that the young ones are leaving in droves, and the ones that stick it out are only there to please their parents. What shocks me the most is the generation of partiers that exist today in the organization. There are constantly rumors of rediculously wild parties that the young people are having - the kind of parties that would rival any college party I have ever been to. It's a sad state of affairs for the poor old borg. I think it's kind of ironic that they toot their own horns about how they are the only religion that has what people really need, yet just like every religion, their demographic of adherants is getting old, desperate, and pathetic.

another point that people are "stealing " literature, namely helping themselves during off hours or when no one is around.
another point he made was that he was "shocked" that there have been numerous occasions that the congregation files had either been broken into, or attempted to be broke into.
i think they have taken the filing cabinet out of our hall, any others? have the elders been told to take the records off site? That sounds like odd stuff for an elder to be saying, especially since some of these very 'suggestions' were made in jest on a different thread on this site. Are you sure he wasn't putting out some kind of 'feelers' to you about being apostate or participatory on apostate sites? For that matter, about his own lurking for his own reasons...and wanting to come forth with it. Who knows. It just seems awfully coincidental.

It would not surprise me if the internet has something to do with this. Probably many, if not all of these young people have read bad things about the religion. Today's young people have been raised in the generation of computers and are probably more computer literate than older people so it stands to reason they have seen so-called apostate literature. Probably somebody googled something and it was like opening the floodgates. Then they told their friends. Once you do this, there is no going back! First, there is shock, then resentment, then hate. Healing comes last.
As far as files in halls being broken into, I am sure this is as a result of reading stories on the internet. People want to see the unflattering things written about them and want to remove them.
Wow, this sounds like an epidemic! Too bad I can't feel sorry.

I'm glad the kids are leaving. Let them go and enjoy life outside that sadistic cult. Lilly

It's the information age. The cow is out of the barn. Jw's will have to be a 3rd world religion. Are they geared up for that?

I've always fantasized about stealing mine. You got to hand it to that younger generation. They are going places no one has been before! I'm sure if it happens too much though they will find ways to make them inacessable. I wonder if some of the halls today contain alarm systems that connect to the cop shop or po's home. There's ways around that too though. It really makes you proud of the younger generation. It gives me a glow in my heart and a bounce in my step. They will have to become more and more like a police state to maintain control. Wait a minute they always were, since the bully years of Rutherford.

I tried to find our files to make sure there were no paedophiles in the Congregation (not that I suspected anyone, but after all the stories I've read, I wanted to make sure, so I can report them if there were) but I couldn't find them. I later found out the Secretary has them at his house. Shame.
Many 'young ones' are leaving. I'm in the process. A lot more are going to University for sure, which is causing them to leave, and many other reasons of course. A lot are living double lives as well. A lot are still staying in though, and are terrified of apostates, and apostate sites. -

I broke into my parents house (I knew where their key was) to look into my elder dad's stuff to see if I could find letters or something from the society that I could use against them ... NOTHING! darn it.

Well at least that elder was honest, a few I've known seem to ignore the evidence of their eyes - shrinking congregations with almost no 17 - 20 year olds left, as they have all gone and have no intention of coming back. The trend of young ones leaving the wts will continue, and increase in volume, as there is nothing there to hold them. It's too easy these days to find out what bs the teachings are, and there is nothing the wts can do to stop people looking for that information if they choose to.
