Sometimes you wonder if the WTBTS will ever come to a dead end. But, it is always encouraging when you hear of the gradual awakening of individuals who have been trapped in the cult their whole lives.

Walking home from school yesterday I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned round to see a JW i have known since he was a little boy. He has been a window cleaner since leaving school and is married with three children.

Straight away he said to me: ' My wife has gone to university!' he was really happy about it. 'She's studying really hard now.'

'Well done!' I said to him. 'What are you doing?'

'I'm going to university too!' he grinned happily. 'I'm going to be a physiotherapist!'

'I am so proud of you!' I said.

'I've had enough of cleaning. I'm not living like that anymore. We're both thinking long term now and thinking about the future.'

'I'm proud of both of you' I said to him. We'd reached his car and he offered me a lift to wherever I was going, but I was literally a minutes walk from home.

I would have like to have found out more about their thinking but am so impressed with them both. They both have fanatical JW family and I know they are probably not too impressed with their uni attending relatives.

Gradually, the WTBTS is bleeding to death. It's members are slowly waking up, but in greater numbers than ever before!

We also did a calculation last night of our family members who are and were JW.

We recently found out that cousin and his wife had stopped attending the KH for over a year. We added this all together and came to ten member of our family that no longer attended the KH. The original number that did five years ago was twenty six. Now ten of us have left. That means that in five years from an original fully attending family of 26 members, only 16 still go to the meetings and participate in FS, are Elders etc.

We also found out the other week that the above cousin's wife's entire family have ceased being JWs and her father was an Elder.

As I said, the WTBTS is slowly bleeding to death.

Much like the Amish, their numbers are only coming from the families unless you look to other countries that still have a minimal growth. It would be interesting to see the numbers of people who DA themselves, the faders, who quit and it doesnt show up on their DFing list and how many are leaving yearly that dont get counted in a report. That is a report they probably dont share willingly.

    Dear Gill,

Greetings! Looks as though we're all back on line again. I am happy to hear your report. I readily encourage the many young and intelligent JWs I know to pursue their native abilities. As a teacher and mentor, I am involved with molding the thinking of many young persons. In some cases already these children and young adults ARE following their dream and doing very well financially. At nearly 60 years old, I have to make ends meet by odd-jobbing, which is OK. Franz and Dunlap did it. I simply do not wish to see bright and eager young people trapped as so many of us are/were. And good for you---back to university!

avidbiblereader - The actual figures on people who fade away from the WTBTS must be enoromous. You're quite right that they wouldn't even dare publish those figures!

CoCo - It really is wonderful to hear of young JWs taking control of their lives and leaving the cult. That they then make an effort in education and use their skills is fantastic.

I saw this yesterday and I noted the educations were printed as items of pride, not shame. I'm happy the Witness people are thinking and working and planning. My generation absolutely couldn't do this.

I would love to go back to school. I work full time, am married with 3 kids. I know that there are institutions that offer online education and I would love to do that, but I can't afford it. Anybody out there knows of any special programs for adults wanting to go back to school? Will the government help with anything? Let me know. I would love to take any course on Medical Transcription, Medical assistant.
