If they are discussing Revelation 1:7 then 1914 is not part of the discussion. They place the fulfillment of that scripture at the beginning of the great tribulation which is to date 92 years and counting past 1914. 1914 is not dropped here because it is not part of their interpretation of that scripture.

I have just re read it and there is no word 'Soon' in it either.

There is no mention of 'signs of the times.'

This article place Christs presence in a future time that could be an indeterminate length of time.

*** w74 12/15 p. 751 Who Will See "the Sign of the Son of Man"? ***

But this planet or its entire population will never be destroyed by nuclear warfare, nor by any man-directed means. For, at earth’s darkest moment, "then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."—Matt. 24:30.

This refers, not to the beginning of Christ’s pa·rou·si´a or invisible presence, but to his "coming" (Greek, er·kho´me·non) at the "great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again." When he comes "with the clouds, and every eye will see him" he will be invisible to fleshly eyes. (Rev. 1:7) "Clouds" would naturally hide anyone in them, the expression therefore symbolizing that the one "coming" is himself invisible. Not with fleshly eyes in a literal sense, but from observation of what the Son of man does at that time, everyone will see that what takes place is not from men, but from heaven. The "tribes of earth" who have been brought into conflict with God because of false religion and by the commercial, political organizations will "beat themselves in lamentation" as they see the Son of man’s superhuman power exercised against their armies and systems.

During Christ’s pa·rou·si´a, which precedes his "coming" to execute judgment, the message of the Kingdom and its establishment has been declared like a mighty trumpet blast in the direction of the "four winds"—in every direction—for the gathering of Jehovah’s anointed, spirit-begotten "chosen ones" into unity of worship. (Matt. 24:31) Also, others have heard and listened with a desire to serve God, and are serving along with the "chosen ones."

Jehovah's Witnesses Millerite/Adventist sect spin-off American Civil war army captain William Miller is ground zero for Jehovah's Witnesses.

There is nothing that made me gasp in horror of all WT/JW falsehoods more then this finding that it all came from the Millerite movement.Yes,the "great disappointment"of Oct 22 1844 has never died out... it lives on in the Seventh day Adventist (who admit it) and the Jehovah's Witnesses who deny it.

Must see video clip: http://www.dannyhaszard.com/cultvideos.htm please go to this link and scroll down for the History Channel clip

The Millerites: Armageddon (History Channel) 4 min clip
This is the highly credible HISTORY CHANNEL (Roger Mudd) not the "apostates" exposing Jehovah's Witnesses as a spin-off of the William Miller movement of 1844 Ergo,no 1914 then there can be no 1918 inspection..... The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, yes the reason the Watchtower came into existence was to declare Jesus second coming in 1914.When the prophecy (derived from William Miller of 1842) failed they said that he came "invisibly".

Ergo,no 1914 then there can be no 1918 inspection and sealing of the 'anointed' so the entire wts doctrinal superstructure comes crashing down like a house of cards __________________

    *** w04 3/1 p. 16 ‘The Faithful Slave’ Passes the Test! ***

WHEN DOES JESUS COME?In Matthew chapters 24 and 25, Jesus is said to "come" in different senses. He does not need to move physically in order to "come." Rather, he "comes" in the sense of turning his attention to mankind or to his followers, often for judgment. Thus, in 1914 he "came" to begin his presence as enthroned King. (Matthew 16:28; 17:1; Acts 1:11) In 1918 he "came" as messenger of the covenant and began judging those claiming to serve Jehovah. (Malachi 3:1-3; 1 Peter 4:17) At Armageddon, he will "come" to execute judgment on Jehovah’s enemies.—Revelation 19:11-16.

The coming (or, arriving) referred to a number of times at Matthew 24:29-44 and 25:31-46 is at "the great tribulation." (Revelation 7:14) On the other hand, the coming referred to a number of times at Matthew 24:45 to 25:30 has to do with his judging professed disciples from 1918 onward. It would not be reasonable to say, for example, that the rewarding of the faithful slave, the judgment of the foolish virgins, and the judgment of the sluggish slave, who hid the Master’s talent, will take place when Jesus "comes" at the great tribulation. That would imply that many of the anointed will be found unfaithful at that time and will thus have to be replaced. However, Revelation 7:3 indicates that all of Christ’s anointed slaves will have been permanently "sealed" by that time.

Garybuss said: The problem I see with placing Jesus' parosia into the future is the loss of the period of judgement and the appointment of the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation as the "appointed" channel in 1919.

Exactly. It wouldn't be difficult dropping Jesus' Second Coming from the equasion, but they're paranoid as hell about dropping the 1919-inspection-of-the-temple doctrine because that leaves them with no scriptural evidence that they were "appointed" over anything.

Personally, I think they could survive dropping the 1914/1919 date. If the R&F swallowed dropping the generation issue in 1995, they'll swallow just about anything.

Maybe, Mary. But can you imagine the internet chatter over that - we would have a thread 2000 pages long. I don't know if the servers could handle a load like that - might bring on Armageddon or something.
