Ok here's my 3, sorry if they've already been posted:

I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues - Elton John http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecU-e0XUMd8

Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55nTwg5NIPM

Missing You - John Waite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuR9_kWJZgU

You might notice that all these songs come out around the same time...it was 1984 when I got dumped by my exfiance...who strangely enough I'm now talking to after 24 years

For many a love or relationship had a song attached to the romance!

For some romance never was a reality!

Gold - 'Always believe in your soul' brings back memory of the occasional hope now lost in the maze of life!

My tears run deep and are dry ones!

I wonder to what extent those with rich memory feel it changed the whole character of their lives?

I agree with Mincan on his thread about dysfunctionality being a feeling of not having experienced 'living'!

And what greater experience can there be amongst humans than falling in love?

So I wish all of you love!

Though I am thinking it may feel like searching for the Holy Grail for some of us!

Anyone got any 'alternative' advice? Please do not include religion as an option!!

hough I am thinking it may feel like searching for the Holy Grail for some of us!

If you stop searching, I have a suspicion it will find YOU. My man came into my life right after I had decided NO MORE MEN FOR ME! That said, he had some help. It's a long story, but I was very sick for a while. So sick I couldn't leave the apartment. Not having much else to do, I was on line all the time and made up a Yahoo personals ad and posted it with no intention of dating anyone. I just wanted to see if I'd get any responses.

I forgot all about it then my computer broke. Six months later I went into a internet cafe and decided to check the ad and lo and behold, there were over 60 responses! I STILL didn't want to date but T's letter was so wonderful, I decided I had to meet him. Life is far from perfect but he's a wonderful man and I love him dearly.

I think what got me all those responses was that the ad was funny as well as realistically self-deprecating; too many women post ads such as, I WANT A MAN WHO MAKES 500, 000 A YEAR and DOES ALL THE HOUSEWORK TOO. What about what YOU have to GIVE, LADIES? Why is it always about taking? The men always wants someone SLENDER and PRETTY. Funny how the stereotypes about each gender turn out to have truth in them. Stereotypes often do.

Anyway, I am a nervous clumsy ditz preoccupied with silliness - and that's how I presented myself - in a humourous way. I noted that when we met for coffee, I'd probably spill it all over myself and when I reached for a pen to give my phone number, the ink would have leaked all over my handbag. THIS IS SO F-ing ME! Why lie about what we really are!!!

No photo, so my looks did not count against me. Looks matter to men - they always will - but in their 50s they are a bit more forgiving since they themselves are losing hair, have beer guts, etc. and they know the odds of getting some young chick who looks like Angelina Jolie are slim.

Well, that's my advice - for what it's worth.

Great thread, avi. Somehow I missed it.

Some great ones that got me through the 80's already mentioned. Ones I still love and have on my youtube account just in case....

    Anything by The Cure...

Careless Whisper...Wham (I still love this song)

That song, by Cameo, Why Have I Lost You? YES...that voice maked me cry.

Simply Red...Holding Back the Years (I loved this guy 'cause he had red hair like me) alt

Foreigner....I Want To Know What Love Is (remember slow-dancing to this at Club Xanadu in Myrtle Beach)

Total Eclipse of the Heart...Bonnie Tyler (I still cry to this one)

    Sinead O'connor....Nothing compares 2 U

    Some I haven't seen yet....

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam With Full Force - All Cried Out (I still sing this at karaoke night)

    Every Rose Has Its Thorn....Poison

    Hello.....Lionel Richie

Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (I'm still a Miami Vice nut)

Mr. Mister - Broken Wings (still a tearjerker)

Roxette - Listen To Your Heart

    Tears For Fears - Shout

    U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (yet still I haven't)

Ready For The World - Love You Down (at the time I was dating a much younger guy and this was our song...I cried every time I heard it after we broke up)

    Here Somes the Rain Again.....Eurythmics

Aerosmith.....Angel (played at my sis' funeral)

    Atlantic Starr - Always

Billy Preston and Syreeta - With You I'm Born Again

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer (I ride in my car with this playing, and it seems like such am "UP" song, yet I always end up crying while I'm singing)

Journey - Send Her My Love (of all the Journey songs, this one I loved the best)
    Harden My Heart.......Quarterflash

And this one still makes my heart ache....The Beautiful Ones....Prince
