1 John 2:8 Again, I am writing YOU a new commandment, a fact that is true in his case and in YOURS , because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining

    What do you think?

    abr,

We couldn't. The "true light" may get brighter for righteous individuals but it won't change into "new light" or come from any other source for these individuals than the Spirit, it is fitting that the "spirit of truth" that "will lead you into all truth" would be the vehicle of true light. (1 Corinthians 2) There is no Scriptural example of spirit operating on organizations, only on individuals.

Galatians 1:6-9 and 1 John 2:26-29 prove that the true anointed—unlike the early Bible Students and the modern-day self-professed Faithful and Discreet Slave—will not bring a new gospel and will need no one to be teaching them.

The Bible nowhere even suggests the term "new" light.

it is said in so many ways in the bible ...

If I'm correct the only verse they use to support the idea of new light - is a Proverbe and as a proverbe it makes sens of course more you experience/lears things more it should become clear - it doesn't mean that they have to change - some do, some don't but in observing them you know which do and which don't.

The bible as ancient scriptures (all together) can't be change, it is already a real probleme for our generation to understand it - but the meaning (conceptually) about it says do not change along the time.

The new light concept that is so peculiar to the WTS is in fact a political consideration, they want to have the freedom to change the ways they run the org, adopting even at times directly anti biblical ways, without having any reactions so the new light theory is the catch all explanation for such suspect changes. It's a symptom of a business trying to act as a religion. They also totally misrepresent the nature of such changes as being adding new knowledge to the old whereas in fact what we have in every case is a rejection of the old truth and its replacement by something new and often diametrically opposed truth. It's up to the individual JW to realise that this ridiculous claim is the sign of a cult: the real truth simply never vanishes it can be added to and expanded but never abrogated.

    RAF,

Proverbs 4:18 is the Scripture they use. But it says the path of the righteous ones gets brighter and brighter. It doesn't say anything about the doctrine of a book publishing corporation that appears more than 2,800 years later getting brighter and brighter.

For them to pretend that Proverbs 4:18 was prophecy written about their organization's doctrine is absurd. In the context it is clear that the division is between wicked (in general) and the effects of their life choices and the righteous (in general) and the effects of their life choices. It isn't referring to any organization.

But if Proverbs 4:18 should be viewed the way JWs view it, why are they not all Jews or Catholics waiting patiently for God to correct those organizations? Is the JW religion more righteous than other religions; is it on a brighter path? I see no evidence of that. In many ways it is even less righteous than the Pharisees, who also claimed righteousness when they had none.

When the Society claims "the light gets brighter" in order to explain all their flip flopping and never-ending doctrinal change, they use one verse in Proverbs and they take it completely out of context. If you read the verses around the one they use, you get a totally different perspective on what it's actually saying:

Proverbs 4: 13-19 says: Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. For they cannot sleep till they do evil; they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

It should be obvious that these scriptures are talking about the two paths in life: one of wickedness, one of righteousness. These verses describe the effects of living a wicked life filled with violence, or doing evil to others; it then contrasts it with living a righteous life; comparible to the "first dawn of light". As someone progresses living a righteous life, their lives "get brighter" until the day is "firmly established. Nowhere in these verses is there even the slightest hint that this could in anyway, be referring to a group of men interpretting prophecy and using it as an excuse for when they get it wrong. It just isn't there. But without that scripture, they'd never be able to explain away all their false prophecying, or flip flopping of doctrines that has caused irreparable damage to millions.

When a light bulb burns out, you replace it with a new one. There is no continuity between the two. That's why the Watchtower has to continuously replace their bulbs.

There most certainy is a new light and it is much needed. It is the light of science and reason which illuminates the dark, craggy recesses of religious faith, mythology and superstition and exposes them for the fallacies they are.

The wts have to have something up their sleeves to keep the flock duped when time runs out on one of their prophecies, such as the generation doctrine, and they need to keep it fairly simple so that everyone can more or less understand it. Whoever came up with the "new light" idea was very clever, as well as being very deluded.
