dub stand for jw with the j dropped, jw = jdubya (close to phonetic w, a variation) = jdub = dub

It's simple: Jehovah's Witness --> (JW) Jay DoubleU --> Jay Doub --> Dub. And from this come other words like dubbiness, dubland, dubdom, dub hall etc sometimes there is a play on words eg dubland --> dumbland.
