I have PLENTY to spare!!!! (And WILL have for quite some time!)

Maybe you have heard about upstate NY 's Oswego County! I am IN it, up to my eyebrows in snow! It has been snowing since Saturday evening, and right near us got 88" and another just said they have 120" somebody measured.

It has been declared a state of emergency since yesterday, and MORE snow is predicted right through Sunday. They just don't know WHERE they will PUT it! It has been horrid trying to keep the main roads, the hospital parking lot and the drugstores parking lots cleared for people that can even get OUT of their yards if medicine is needed. Hubby got mine today, it took him most of the day to dig himself out of the driveway to get out and get my meds and our Cat's food.

We've had scads of not-the-usual-birds coming to the feeders.....even had a male and female Cardinal this morning. We've had an adult rabbit come right up onto the porch, and hubby went out (it was 7 degrees) and fed it an apple right from his hand! Our two cats were sitting at the window with eyes like SAUCERS when they saw that!

We always keep lots of canned goods and soups, and can bake bread and rolls in a fairly short time. It's not exactly a seven-course meal, but we're fed and we're full! As long as the pipes don't freeze and the power stays on for the furnace....we're doing just fine. We still have the Kerosun heater if we need it, but we have to stay in one room if the power goes out.

Everyone up here has talked about the Blizzard of '66 since we have lived here. We moved here in '74. They are now saying this far surpasses that year....and then some. We can hear snowmobile engines all through the night in emergency transport. It has been much too frigid to be out joyriding.

It was so sweet though....the lady down the road called to see if we needed anything and to ask if we were okay....as they hadn't seen us go by since it began to snow and all our services stopped, no meals on wheels, no mail delivery, etc. We barely know these folks....but they are always right there to see if we old folks are doing alright :o)

Those "Worldly people" are ALWAYS trying to trick us into thinking they are not evil.....LOL!

I just popped in to say hi and let everyone know all is well.

    hugs to all,

    Annie

I didn't know you were from the Oswego area Annie. I've been watching the news and the plight out there. Unbelievable!

I'm in Wisconsin and I can remember in years past that the roof had to be shoveled because of the snow load. Now we don't get much.

Happy to hear that you are being watched over by your good neighbor. Yes. Aren't those worldly people wicked? Thanks for letting us know how you and your husband are doing.

    Take care of yourselves.

    Love,

    Juni

I think it is hilarious that your post generated the Google ad:

Glad you're safe and keeping warm and fed - and helping the wildlife too!

We got about 5" of snow last night but it's turned to rain now so it's nearly all gone again, I just hope the temperature doesn't drop or everywhere will be sheet ice

Annie, You can send some of that snow downstate. So far this year all we have is dustings of snow. Plenty of single digit temps though. Glad to hear you and the MR. are doing OK.

Annie, so glad you and the Mr. are alright! I knew you were in New York but I didn't realize it was in lake-effect snow country. I don't even want to contemplate 88-120" of snow. I sure hope it stops soon.

Being from Canada, I can remember snow banks 10 ft. high. We never get anything like that anymore. Hav'nt for years. This year has been really strange. We didn't even get snow, till January was almost over. It seems like global warning has turned the tables in certain areas. This country never gets effected by bad snowstorms, as other places do. That is because ,heavy storms, have always been a part of our culture and history. By the time I wake up, all the streets are clean. Never even give it second thought. Even during the great ice storm of 97, I never even lost power where I was living. Over 30,000 telephone poles had to be replaced. I hope you are keeping well, and just take it in stride. The board is a fine distraction, to stave off cabin fever.
