Judge's Decision on JWs Stir Up Jews

A judge in Israel has ruled that the Haifa Convention Center must rent space to Jehovah's Witnesses because it offers its goods and service to the public. It cannot discriminate because of religious beliefs. The ruling has been ratified by the Attorney General's office. This has caused concern to some Jews that this is opening Pandora's box (paving the way to missionary activity). It is an interesting paradox. The GOVERNMENT is by its nature and creation pro-judaism. However it is a democracy and therefore insists that businesses (such as a convention centre) not disciminate.

Despite the JW connection to this, I think it is a good exercise for Isreal to test the depth of their commitment to democracy. If their is ever to be peace in the Middle East tolerance towards other faiths is integral.

The comments on that story are just scary. A whole lot of pot calling kettle stuff happening. Makes me feel sick. And makes me feel more and more inclined to agree with Harris and Dawkins and their comments on what religious faith is doing to our planet. *sigh*
