Because it just is! Remember this line, "If jesus was in the room would you do it" Well i wouldn't have sex with hubby if Jesus was was in the room duh! I hate that line!!!!! Especially when they start their talks with "Well young ones do you think Jesus would be in a room with LOUD music" cringe cringe cringe. At my weddign they told me turn the music down, try explaining that to the BAND!! I just said mmmm sorry can't hear you!!!

Don't get us started on JW weddings... Bethel may as well just make a generic wedding movie. And when the people want to get married they can just play it after the meeting on Sunday and be done with it.

They have so many rules about the weddings it's pathetic. You can't play any music other than Kingdom Monotonies, you can't have a themed wedding, you ain't even supposed to invite DFd relatives. What's the point? What happend to the Tamboreans? Or the high quality wine? The dancers?

Just have an anouncement: "... and that sums up out accounts reports. I am happy to anounce that, brother Bo and sister Ring are now married, we have three aux. pioneers for the month of June, and now I will read a letter from the society."

Can you think of similar things that show how JWs just can't be "normal"?

Sex in marriage- nothing oral or kinky.

NO standing during a national anthem- rare for the adults, but kids are subjected constantly.

No voting, I have even heard the CO tell the elders to warn the flock to be careful about
    having opinions about political issues.

    Don't buy a sports car.

Sleep in once in a while, relax and read the paper and sip coffee on weekend mornings.- Bad Idea for JW's.

Buying Girl Scout cookies from a co-workers daughter.

My brother-in-law has a roof cleaning business and has always turned down work for any church related building. Today he turned down a contract to clean homes on the military base. How can a business person afford to turn down work???

    Sad but all too true.

Yes, this constant vigilance to keep from getting "counseled" and harassed makes people quite duplicitous. This is why I can go to the hall and parrot the WT sayings but not get caught, as long as I keep everything close to my chest. I've learned to hide a great many things from people who are not entitled to know them--and I can thank the Watchtower Society for that.

I too can remember worrying about people coming over and finding something questionable amongst my belongings. Dread of the backroom breaking session kept me constantly attentive to my behavior. I did mess up one time, but even then, it wasn't my fault. You see, my friends and I play Halo (the original). We used to play quite heavily, a few years ago. We never got in trouble for it until we let someone into our circle who didn't have the tact that we had in hiding our shared pastime. This led to an inquisition for which I largely bared the brunt. Luckily, I avoided a JC, but I was made to tell others "Why Violent Videogames Are Not For Christians."

At the end of the talk, the PO mentioned Halo by name.

I was humiliated and confused. Surely, if the Almighty Watchtower Magazine didn't mention anything specifically by name, then no brother could specifically name it as "bad," right? Wrong. Especially with a zealous ex-Bethelite at the helm of the congregation. I learned, that night, that in the wonderful world of the Tower, there is no such thing as "conscience." Your entertainment will be chosen for you. Any choices you make can and will be subject to review. If it feels good or is fun, it's probably wrong.

I learnt very early on not tell anyone what I was getting up to. Stupid little things that should no matter like music, friends at school, movies. You just never knew when you'd break those "rules". They teach you to be very secretive, never know when someone will see you doing something wong like listening to a Queen CD or something just as dangerous. Deranged bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to teach that "Satan is the ruler of the world" , then everything must be wrong with it, the politics, the education, the entertainment , the whole "Spirit of the world"

If you want to keep people on their toes then you have to give them rules and unwritten rules to follow, and worry about breaking . All controlling religions do the same thing. ..Dubs are basically sincere , so they worry about "displeasing Jehovah" or committing a sin.

Basically, they are hooked - unless they can see the light and join us on JWD.
