Cat Stevens has said that he disapproves of the message in the movie that has his songs as a soundtrack, "Harold and Maude" (an EXCELLENT movie) as it advocates sex between unmarried people.
Alllso, that list of songs that was "censored" from the radio... did you notice under the snopes rumor-check thing? it said that the claim is FALSE- so that list is not actually removed from any playlists.
I love Cat Stevens music. I have several of his records and also several of his tapes. Tea for the Tillerman is great. All of his songs are so uplifting, they always make me smile. i have not heard any of his new stuff under Yusef Islam.

My boys loved "Where do the Children Play?".... Both have fantastic singing voices and can sing Cat Stevens to a T....with that same deep voice.
I would love to hear that. Something about people singing from the heart just get to me.
Gopher. I actually can see the mans viewpoint. I don't feel harsh about anything he has decided. Each person has to follow thier own path. It does not look as if he is out to harm others.
Kudra~ Yes I saw that it was false when I posted it. I also thought the list was highly entertaining. No wonder it hit the rumor mill. I love Harold and Maude. I have watched it a gazillion times. It is most excellent. Always makes me laugh/cry.

It is good to see Cat Stevens getting some positive comment .. He is seen as an advocate of the moderate mainstram Islam. Many were indignant when he was not allowed to travel on a US airliner a while back
I think he should have a lot of positive comments. His music reaks of peace and that is good.

Cat, Yusuf, is a cool dude and has worked for the good of mankind. There a great people in all religions and freaks in all religions. The extremest islamafascists are no different than the KKK or the JWs. Remember the only reason the JWs don't kill you is because has not asked them to.
I would welcome Yusuf into my home anyday.
