  I imagine most on this board have already read about this issue. Below is a excerpt from the 95' Awake. What I gather from it is The Watchtower makes it sound like they foretold the return of the United Nations in 1942, three years before it took place in 1945

  A few weeks later, after I had returned home, one of Jehovah’s Witnesses called at my door. I accepted Bible literature from her. Although she called back regularly every Sunday morning, I did not give any serious thought to or read the literature she left at that time. One day, however, I came home from work more depressed than usual. My wife suggested that I read something to try to relax my mind-a booklet left by the Witnesses entitled Peace-Can It Last?
  I began to read the booklet and found that I could not put it down until I had read it all. I said to my wife: “This booklet was printed in 1942. If someone on the street had then said that Hitler and Mussolini would lose the war and that the League of Nations would reappear in the form of the United Nations, people would have thought he was mentally disturbed. But what is now history is precisely what this booklet said would happen.

  If you go to the United Nations web site, you'll find that the U.N was active through out World War 2.

  The name "United Nations", coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, during the Second World War, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers.

The document, signed during a meeting on the ship HMS Prince of Wales, "somewhere at sea", is known as the Atlantic Charter.

  On 1 January 1942, representatives of 26 Allied nations fighting against the Axis Powers met in Washington, D.C. to pledge their support for the Atlantic Charter by signing the "Declaration by United Nations". This document contained the first official use of the term "United Nations", which was suggested by President Roosevelt.

  In a declaration signed in Moscow on 30 October 1943, the Governments of the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and China called for an early establishment of an international organization to maintain peace and security. That goal was reaffirmed at the meeting of the leaders of the United States, the USSR, and the United Kingdom at Teheran on 1 December 1943.

  Thanks for refreshing my memory with that link, Osarsif. I had wanted to comment that Nathan Knorr had claimed credit for "predicting" the UN in 1942, but I didn't have the reference handy.

  Since WWII was merely part 2 of WWI, it only made sense that the League of Nations would be revived (albeit under a slightly different name) once that war was over.

  Even that is moot, since the society has mounted, is in bed with and is legally obligated to "promote the interests" of that harlot it has erstwhile vilified for decades.

  I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to compile a huge list of what the society has said about the UN over the decades and send it to the UN, so they can see that the Watchtower Lying Corporation are not only traitors to the UN and its interests, but traitors to their own dazed and hoodwinked followers.

  "As all know, this prediction was fulfilled. But it was not difficult to make at that time. As Knorr himself pointed out in the same booklet (p. 21), plans of reviving the peace organization after the war were well on the way, the Axis Powers, Japan and Hungary having signed a "new League of Nations" already on November 20, 1940. In fact, the United Nations had already been formed, several months before Knorr's prediction, on January 1, 1942 at Washington D.C., with twenty-six nations signing a joint declaration on that date.17

  Besides, Knorr's prediction was neither new nor unique. Other prophetic expositors had predicted the same thing - as much as two years earlier! Dwight Wilson refers, for example, to a prediction by the well known Bible expositor, Harry Rimmer: "Harry Rimmer in 1940 forecast a new League of Nations as a result of the war - and the rise of a universal dictator.   Also found there - interesting information on how Vine's views (the priest who used spirit mediums) were the basis for the WTBTS views on League of Nation, among other fundamentalists.

  By the time of 1995, the WTBTS has put their usual PR spin on the situation, making the WTBTS appear as uniquely "prophet-like."
