I am sitting here in my living room really considering my current state of de JDubification. I have been out of the mess for many years but some of the mindset remains in a dark corner of my mind. While the luggage is light I still carry the bags and some days the JW, "IM ALWAYS RIGHT "part starts comming up. Many of us have been involved in hot topic posts regarding our beliefs over the past week. Amoung them, Perry, Apostate Kate, Sad Emo, Tetra, Seeker and the list goes on. What is occuring to me this evening is the amount of emotion I and most other posters invest in our beliefs. While this is natural it can lead to hurt feelings, misunderstandings and worse.

I want to publically state to everyone involved in all of those posts and anyone reading is that I Love each and every one of you regardless of your belief. You are all my brothers and sisters in this journey of life and regardless of our differance in views, nothing can change that.

At the end of the day, as the Beatles said "All we need is Love"

...and don't worry about the misunderstanding. We all have "he hates these cans" moments....

    Asheron,

    Very nicely said.

I read through the entire thread that you are referring to and kept wanting to throw my 2 cents in, but then I kept thinking about what an emotional outlay it is to argue points when everyone is in their corner hanging on to what they feel is right. So..when you said this:

the amount of emotion I and most other posters invest in our beliefs. While this is natural it can lead to hurt feelings, misunderstandings and worse.

it really resonated with me. The last thread I really sunk my teeth into with Justice One just left me feeling drained and the realization hit me that nothing whatsoever was accomplished. Everyone left the thread with the same opinions and feelings that they entered with. I think the same thing happens in the evolution/athiest vs. religion debates. We all enter and leave with the same feelings and beliefs and the result is that people get stirred up and hurt. I am glad that we have the freedom to discuss these topics, I just wonder what they actually accomplish.

Hey Asheron, I love you and everyone else here too

When I posted my response to you on 'that' thread last night, I'll admit I was absolutely livid, but I've slept since then and life's too short and precious to hold grudges. I apologise if I caused you any offence.

My take on what you've written here is that we're all at different points on the same road, sometimes we may need to slow down to give a helping hand to those who struggle rather than just telling them to hurry up!

This is a big-hearted thread you started with some very good points raised, respect to you.

I don't know what thread you are reffering to but I agree with your sentiment.

In order to have a successful debate, both parties must set aside their emotions on the subject and address the issues raised. This rarely happens, though and it's nice to see someone who realizes this.

It's like computer viruses that infect it, you get rid of most of them but some minor ones may remain that cause trouble from time to time. Eventually they will be neutralised too. Something remains in the subconscious mind that continues to cause trouble but exactly what is it? A top grade psychologist should be able to find out what these viruses of the soul are.
