Just keep in mind that if you burn video files on CD-Rs (and not to DVD-Rs), not only will you have less total available play time per disc, you may also have to burn them in a format like SVCD (or even worse VCD) if you intend to play them on many stand alone dvd players. If its just going to be files you intend to transport along and to be shared on computers or the web, then disregard the above.

why? the reason it uses disks is so that you dont have to do that. is there a specific reason, to save this dvd disk to your hard drive? doing so takes up huge volumes of space and is usually not recomended. disks are cheap and you can save space by not moving this type of files to your hard drive. open the disk with my computer and use the "explore" option. dont double click it, right click and choose explore. what do you see? what format, file extention do the files have? do you see two folders? one called VIDEO_TS and the other called AUDIO_TS ? look in the VIDEO_TS folder if it is there and tell me what kind of files are there. also nero express is a ripped down krippled version of the real program. if you want to do video editing you and i need to have a real chat, off the boards. you have my email address. Butt light, since your laptop can read DVD's, just pop it in and open it as a file, not a movie.(Go to my computer, open the dvd drive by right clicking on the dvd drive and select 'OPEN') You should see the video files in your dvd drive in this format. Just copy all the files to your hard drive, you don't need nero for this. If you want to record on CD's, remember that they can hold only about 700 meg on a disk. Mini DVD'd can hold about 1.4 gig. I believe nero 6 has a editing program that you can use to edit the video and then burn it on a CD's or DVD's (if you have a DVD burner) Also, the new mini DVD camcorders record the video in mpeg2 format so you shouldn't need any more compression.

explain to me why you want to copy these to your computer?
disks are cheep. why not just date them or write the content on them and be done with it.
help me understand what you what to do and why and maybe i can help you do it or find a better way to accopmlish the task.

One good thing, even though im a dumb blonde, Im learning alot lolIf all you need to do is read the files, then you should get BSplayer. It's not a memory hog like Windoze Media Player, and can play VOB files. If BSplayer is not up to the task, you may want to check out VLC Media Player. Hope those work for ya.
