Birthdays was a subject I latched onto early on because it just seemed so "made up". There are so many other things that could be forbidden based on the same stuff, and yet aren't. Here's the research I did on it. Others here have contributed to it as well: http://TheBentinel.com/jw-birthdays.html Hope it helps! Keep thinking! Dave LOVED THE READ!!!!!! Thanks

Can't miss, what you never had, but I don't see anything wrong with it at all. There's no rights of passage or markers of life, in that useless religion. It's very sad to not have any happy moments to look back on. Usually I use my birthdays as a moment of refection, on where I am, what I accomplished in the last year, what I need to work on etc. It's like taking inventory, so I usually spend my birthday alone. No one I know celebrates it.

Well if they look at just 2 occurances in the scriptures to form a policy banning birthdays, what about all the other holy writings that were not included in the book that is the bible today. Birthdays may have been mentioned favorably in books not canonized.

Another reason some JWs come up with is that celebrations made the person the center of attention. Well hell, isn't that was Ratherflawed did when he put his images on his records and gave out autographed copies of his books?

Birthdays are time to have fun, enjoy yourself and your loved one, and to celebrate what's good about life.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach none of the above; they have enormous difficulty seeing what's good about life.

Someone said that they're just another "made up holiday."

Well, all holidays are just made up. So are dumb rules about not celebrating them.

I don't think one should be oppressed by either the holidays or by dumb rules made up by a dumb cult.

Just celebrate if it pleases you. It's not that bohemian. Enjoy!
