    Hi

I'm just listening to some classical music online at work and the piece "Die Meistersinger, overture" is on- SO MANY of its phrases (or whatever you call little sections of the song) are TOTALLY the same as some kingdom melodies...

Right now I can hear "Look I Am Making All Things New" (or whatever the actual title is) in Wagners piece....

AAAIIIGH. It is EXACTLY THE SAME.

Can anyone who knows about classical vs. kingdom melodies tell me if I am right???

    -K

Oh my god, it's exactly the same and it's diving me nuts.

Why don't they just play some freaking hymnals if they are so intent on using the "music of the world"?

    arrrgh.

    ok the song just stopped.

The borg probably stole them because they arent copywritted. They are probably in the public domain so they do not have to give credit or acknowledgement. Musics funny stuff. Everybody copies off everybody else. In art they say if you take something that already exist and change it by 10% than it is an original.

I'm guessing they don't use hymnals because they want to be different than other religions, they want to be part of George Bush's #1 New world order. George Bush #1 father supported the Nazzis. Prescot Bush was his name.

I have been out of the borg since 83 but back in the late 70's and 80's I heard kingdom melodies often on muzak in grocery stores and elevators. I would think most likely the muzak was playing the originals that the borg nicked.

Not to be too hard on people nicking music, There are only 7 major notes A-G. And Jehober said there was nothing new under the sun.

If memeory serves me correctly, wasn't the song that was sang at a German assembly back in the Hitler erra set to the same tune as the German National anthem? seek2find

I am no expert on classical music, but I noted many years ago how some of the "Kingdom Melodies" are almost identical to the old classics which are in the public domain. I suspect that Jaguarbass is correct. They lifted them from there because they don't have to give credit or pay royalties. Only a small proportion of their members would be aware of the similarities with the classics.
