Are they saying then that if a 10-year-old whose parents weren't JWs but would let their child get baptized as a JW, that they would approve it?

Few congregations have people who are baptized who are adults who weren't raised as JWs; people who were contacted at work, in the d2d, etc.

The PO at one congregation gave a talk at the service meeting saying that in the last 10 years, the only people baptized were children of JWs. He was trying to encourage making RVs and conducting bible studies. But he revealed more than he intended.

That is not fair to the 8 year old! They shouldn't be allowed to baptise people under 18. You can't even sign a contract as a minor and if you do it's void. Don't get me wrong, 8 year olds are very smart, but it is a fact that their frontal lobe has not fully developed yet which will effect their ability to reason. It's just that once they grow up and reasearch, they may decide that they don't want to be a JW anymore. But they may be shunned by family members if they leave so the only thing that is keeping them there is because they feel trapped. It's just not fair!

Only 32 years off from the Masters example, I just cannot understand why they think this is appropriate? Unbelievable but I guess you take what you get for the figures. The Bible says men and women were baptised by John and Christ's disciples not children.

Wow, talk about flashbacks. I was expected to conduct the field service arrangements at 14. I didn't feel comfortable with it and made it known. Just because I was baptized didn't give me the experience. Initially one of the older sisters would wear a hat and just assign people to car groups and I would close with prayer. There was murmuring about that so I had to learn and hold the arrangements.

It was more embarrassing than anything, half of the group looking at me like I had divine wisdom, the other half sneering that they had to put up with this "kid". Lose/lose situation.

Not surprising since they themselves admit zero growth in the usa, once they were blessed by jehovah with a lot of growth what happened now? It's such a shame to baptise children in a religion that practices shunning. That child doesn't really know whether it will keep to the dub dictates or disagree and be expelled, in the future when such issues may arise.

That's the point, they will be brought up to not question the WTS, there will be no problem as long as this person does what, when, how, how long, how much he/she is told.

If he/she does not follow the program, then there will be problems!!!

An 8 year old kid does not know their own mind, kids need guidance. You should be ashamed of your child abuse.

A new 19 year-old MS conducted the meeting for FS and when he tried to put an oldr sister in with a group that she didn't like she bowed up on him. When he insisted, she said, "Listen Junior, I don't give a damn how much holy spirit you think got you appointed you were still shi**ing yellow when I had been pioneering for over 20 years. Don't you ever forget it, either." She put herself in the car group she wanted in. I just looked and chuckled under my breath.

LMAO!!! Bob, I wouldv'e given a hundred bucks to have been there. Jeff

At my last SAD (Special Assembly Day), nobody was baptized.

The speaker knew of this in advance and directed the outline baptismal talk to the audience as to "remember" our dedication.
