I love putting nori furikake (seaweed with sesame seeds) on popcorn. In fact, every time I go to the movies I always make my seaweed popcorn mix...otherwise it just doesn't taste right!!

Loelaia- how does it stick to the popcorn, is it crumbled? It sounds really good, I love seaweed.

This isn't weird but goes with the peanut butter theme running through this thread; I love peanut butter butterscotch morsel rice krispy bars. Oh good lord a few of those and a glass of milk and I'm in heaven. My kids won't eat them so that means more for me. ;)

It is crumbled and it sticks really well to popcorn with butter. Here is what it looks like:

The best tasting brand and kind of nori furkikake is the one right here:

Usually I bring a clear plastic bag (the kind you put vegetables in at the supermarket) to the movies in which I shake and mix up the seaweed/sesame seeds with the popcorn. Then I add arare rice crackers (mochi crunch) with the mix....it is so delicious. It looks like this, though when I make it there is a lot more proportion of seaweed:

I first encountered this mix in 1991 or so when it made its debut at the Cosmic Candy and Popcorn Planet store in Pearlridge. Previously, I had just added arare to the popcorn. That store is now defunct but it is now widely marketed as "hurricane popcorn" today.

Thanks. I'm going to find some of that, it looks wonderful!! I've tried various things on my popcorn. I usually eat it with Brewers Yeast and butter but yours looks and sounds a million times better!

Let's see................my grandfather used coffee on his cherrios every morning instead of milk. I tried it, not bad. I like apple butter on top of cottage cheese. Another weird thing I do is eat popcorn with a spoon instead of my fingers.

I'm sure there is more but this is enough to prove I'm nuts!

misanthropic.....If you are going to make this yourself, I strongly recommend getting the brand of nori furikake pictured above. There is another brand of nori furkake on the market (by JFC International) that I recommend avoiding, pictured below:

It uses imho an inferior, rather tasteless kind of seaweed. As for the brand of arare to use, my discriminating palate recommends Tomoe Brand as the best tasting brand of rice crackers to add to the popcorn mix.

The little grub, that lives on the agave plant, that they put in bottles of Mezcal. Mmmm. Grubs. There is even a special brand sold in 2-ounce bottles called "Dos Gusanos", two worms for those who can't get enough.
