I didn't know what "grits" were either at that time. They sure got a kick out of this Yankee boy asking what exactly a grit was.

I have a mental image of Joe Pesci in his hotel restaurant in My Cousin Vinny.

I haven't introduced Ross to grits yet. Nothing like a plate of squished up over easy eggs mixed with grits, lots of salt, pepper and butter.

lol, take my advice an wait until AFTER the wedding ;)

Q, what is Mofongo, or should I ask?

You asked ! Mofongo is a tipical Dominican dish. Made with cooked plantain (banana), pork meat, tomato end fried onions. Normally sold at family restaurants in the Dominican Republic.

In countries such as Venezuel and Colombia it's know as cabeza de gato, or in english Cats Head.

    Enjoy...

Now that is an interesting combination. Don't know that I would try it, but interesting nonetheless

I really don't understand why some folks think grits are weird...no more weird than polenta.

I don't even know what polenta is, but I never tried grits unitl I was in my 20's and I just remember them being all runny and loaded with butter. It just didn't do anything for me.
One thing I can never do that other people do is eat cereal with milk, it makes me want to hurl. I can eat it dry but never with milk.

That sounds good. I was just worried that Mofongo was some kind dish that included an eye or nail of something.
