Hi Lisa,
I have a little different experience with this that I would like to share.
I worked with a witness woman about 10 years ago. She and her daughter went to the same KH as my witness father. Anyway, the woman and her daughter knew my Dad well. The daughter, who would come by our work often to have lunch with her Mom, was extremely nice, funny, and outgoing towards me, suggesting a few times we get together sometime socially. I was cool with that, she seemed like she was alot of fun. I got her number and said I would call her sometime.
Then, a few weeks later I was having a conversation with her Mom regarding the WTS. I don't remember the details now, but I made it clear that I was never, ever going to go back to the organization.
That it was only a symbol of pain and suffering to me. We talked a little more and then the subject was dropped.
It was only a short time later that I called her daughter. Maybe meet for coffee or something. I got her answering machine and after a week, she never called back. I called again and left a message for her. Just a nice "Hey, let's get together" kinda thing. I never heard anything back.
Having not been a witness as an adult I forgot about associating with worldly people unless it's to convert them.
Finally! it dawned on me (duh!) it was the conversation I had with her Mom! So, sometimes I wonder, did she assume I was a witness? (I had just moved to the area) or maybe she (in cahoots with my Dad) thought she could get me to come back. I guess I will never know. Funny thing, I was certainly still the same person!
BTW Lisa, this happened in a little town just south of you. I read that you live in Fresno.
How about them FS Bulldogs?!
