A life beyond ...

I now have a life beyond Jehovah's Witnesses. I am able to impact kids in their development into young adults who have risen above challenging circumstances. These children are always impoverished but may be challenged in other ways, as well.

My job is to mold them into productive citizens, contributing adults. My job is to help them make their parents the last poverty link in their family chain. My job doesn't require Armageddon (and its accompanying destruction of more than 6 billion people) for me to see the results of my hard work.

I am happy. I am tired. I am emotionally drained. I have job satisfaction on many levels.

Mostly, I am happy. Deep-down happy.

There is life beyond that insignificant, destructive cult that used to call me brother.

    Respectfully,

    Three cheers!!!

I'm so happy for you Auld. This has been a long time in coming for you and you've traveled a long, arduous road. So glad you've found your place in the world.

    Good to hear, Auld Soul!

Is your wife as happy with your new lives?? Has she made contact with the local cong?

Don't forget to find things to do for just yourself and the two of you. If you keep spending energy on the kids, you may burn out. Remember to nurture yourselves, too.

Yes, and yes. But she misses meetings much more freely now. She isn't worried that anyone will call and check on her. She has yet to reveal my status to the elders. I don't think they have her PRC yet, either.

Sounds like a rewarding career. Reminds me of: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." -James 1:27

So I'm curious as to how one:"help them make their parents the last poverty link in their family chain". Care to elaborate? I ask because I've seen rags to riches, riches to rags, and combinations of these occur numerous times.

Regardless, I'm happy that you've found happpiness, as you say, "deep-down happiness". Ditto here.

We're all brothers and sisters. Everyone. Everywhere.

    Bro A,

This school is dedicated to the cause of breaking the cycle of poverty. Stopping situational poverty within one generation and turning around generational poverty over the course of as many generations as are required (the hope is: only one).

It works with a great number of graduates. If they graduate and wish to go to college they get a full scholarship (barring horrible disciplinary issues during high school years).

I'm so glad you posted an update. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you and your wife were doing. I'm so happy for you both. Interesting news about your wife and her carefree attitude about meetings.... ;)
