If Al Gore was elected in 2000, would 9/11 happened?

it doesn't have anything to do with what president is in office. anyone who thinks that the president is actually a worthy focus point of power is not looking hard enough.

it's called the industrial war machine, it's turned america (and the world little by little) into a religion of sacred violence and consumerism, and it's been the dictator in a slowly evolving police state for decades now.

Of course if any of the presidents from Ford to Bush had really done the right thing, and weaned us from our dependence on foreign oil, then we wouldn't be embroiled in this mess. If we were energy independent like Brazil, then I doubt that we would be there at all. We would just let them fight it out, which eventually is what will probably happen anyway. There are more than enough oil reserves untapped in the US. The problem is the cost of getting to them. But in light of what our dependence on foreign oil has cost, maybe we should have bitten the bullet like Brazil. Just an opinion.

    I AGREE 100%

911 would still 95% probable under Gore or any other President.

The game was in play as far as the bad guys went, there's no reason to believe another President would have achieved inter-departmental reform in time to have the inter-departmental synergy neccesary to have stopped it in planning phase, and it's unlikely ny action by another President wouldhave lead to a cancellation of the plan.

I do agree Gore would have gone into Afghanistan, but not Iraq, unless it was a far different justification, UN sanction, and constellation of allies.

    Spot on.

I doubt there was anything anyone could have done to halt 9/11.

I don't presuppose to understand what really Bush knows or doesn't know nor the pressures of being the president of the USA. It has seemed to age him.

The decisions he has made, I can't agree with all of them but then again we really don't know the WHY behind all of them. Upon full disclosure maybe some would change their minds.

    Maybe?

My opinion of Al Gore is that he is either a pure IDIOT or GENIUS. Global warming has not been proven to be caused by human activities, but he has turned it into one hell of a money maker for himself. He should have stuck to hunting ManBearPig. I don't think he could have done anything to stop 9/11

Over all, ALL politicians are crooked some how and look out for their own interests.

9/11 did happen before, as previously stated. In 1993. It will also happen again. The problem is not who was or is president but who WE ARE. We are the great satan as far as radical Islam is concerned and we support the little satan-Israel. And we are the most Christian practicing and believing nation on earth. We are wealthy compared to most Muslim countries and American culture has diffused into every corner of the earth. That fact alone scares them and engenders their hatred. But most of all we are non Muslim.

No Muslim can rest until all the world is Islamic. They may not all carry on an active jihad but none will do anything to stop their more radical brothers because they see jihad as a means to an end. They will ALL benefit, as Muslims, from the disintergration of the West, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. It is the mission of EVERY Muslim to convert all mankind to Islam. Preferablly by persuasion but by the sword is also mandated in the Koran. Europe will cease to exist as a non Muslim entity within 50 yrs. What you see in Saudi Arabia and Iran will be what you see in Europe. Western societies refuse to confront the jihadists at their gates because we refuse to believe that they really DO mean what they constantly espouse- death to America, death to Israel, death to Christians, death to Hindu's, etc. We are afraid to confront the killers for who and what they really are. They keep telling us but we refuse to listen.

I hope I do not live to see it but I can tell you that there will come a time that every "Christian" in Europe will be faced with the choice- convert to Islam or watch your whole family be slaughtered in front of your eyes. Westerners will convert because they value life , and their children, more than any belief. Most Westerners don't REALLY believe in anything, anyway. They mouth belief in God,etc but don't act or live like it.

It will not matter one iota who we elect in the future because regardless of what we do their mission will ALWAYS be the same- to destroy us.

Hmmm. How about this... I think Ralph Nader would have been the one who had the best chance of preventing the 9/11 attack. Not that he himself would have actually DONE anything different, but his ties to Lebanon (his parents were immigrants from there) might have had an influence. Al Qaeda owes a lot to Lebanon for providing them safe harbor.

The only thing Ralph Nader prevented, was Al Gore becoming president by steering just enough votes away from him to ensure Bush got elected in 2000. Nothing against 3rd party candidates and platforms when they actually help the process. He made all the points he could before the election. In the end, he was just a spoiler.

I was very disappointed when in the end, Bush became president instead of Gore.

I wasn't impressed by either one but at least with Gore you would have had the person who invented the Internet as president.
