Jesus has already done the qualifying, and the eternal life resides in him.

It is thus a matter of fellowshipping with him. Then, as the apostle John says, the benefits are ours here and now, including the life from the eternal one.

We proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. (1 John 1:1 – 4, NIV)

Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5: 10 – 13, NIV)

That speech only demonstrates what a perverted and misunderstood version of christianity they believe and teach. The title itself goes directly against all that is the message of christianity. It`s just sad.

NOT ONCE was faith in Jesus Christ mentioned-- I guess this explains my jw's attitude towards Christ. It seems almost hostile. Hard to articulate his attitude. The other day he sneered at me that I think all I need is a 'relationship with Jesus', add snotty voice to this and you will just about have it.

It seems to disturb him greatly that I believe in the work on the cross, it is done. If nothing else gets finished in my life I know that is done for me, there is nothing I can 'do' or add to, it's been done for me. Not that 'doing' is prohibited but not required as the jw's see it.

Then he brings up the below vs except always leave out the part in ( )

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faithwithoutworks is dead?
James 2:26 (For as the body without the spirit is dead,) so faithwithoutworks is dead also.

It does not amaze me and there are some really good posts on top of mine, just what Paul said about men drawing away disciples after themselves, not adorning them to Christ

    Rom 3:4, 9-13

Never may that happen! But let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, even as it is written: “That you might be proved righteous in your words and might win when you are being judged.” 9 What then? Are we in a better position? Not at all! For above we have made the charge that Jews as well as Greeks are all under sin; 10 just as it is written: “There is not a righteous [man], not even one; 11 there is no one that has any insight, there is no one that seeks for God. 12 All [men] have deflected, all of them together have become worthless; there is no one that does kindness, there is not so much as one.” 13 “Their throat is an opened grave, they have used deceit with their tongues.” “Poison of asps is behind their lips.”

Get out of her my people.

You guys just don't "get it".

See, it's an undeserved kindness that Christ paid the ransom for you. But unless you pay for it, you don't deserve this paid-for, undeserved kindness.

    See? Simple! *roll eyes*

As a Witness you must accept the FDS to qualify.

As a Christian you must accept Jesus to qualify.

The names have changed, but the same conditional, limited and diminutive god story remains the same.

But, don't you all know they are hooked on "works"??? In their eyes, works consists of endless non-stop public preaching 24-7 and placing their publications with every living being. Nevermind that this could be done more efficiently and thoroughly by using mass media instead of having people going door to door.

Their works have nothing to do with helping the sick, poor, etc. In other words, everything Jesus did. I guess Jesus didn't know what he was doing. They defend this by saying they are doing a "lifesaving" work and that time is short. Whatever. I still disagree with their idea of "works". They seem so inhumane to me.

Irreverent and I were discussing this this morning. How can anyone "qualify" for "life in the new world" when it is a "free gift" and that no human can DO anything to earn it.

This is a case where the WTS speaks out of both sides of their mouth.

    FREE GIFT CANNOT BE EARNED

    *** w04 11/1 p. 17 Persecuted yet Happy ***)

The apostle Paul wrote: "The wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Yes, the ‘great reward’ is life, and it is not a wage that we can earn. It is a free gift.

    *** w03 8/1 p. 21 "You Received Free, Give Free" ***

Lovingly, Jehovah arranged for his Son to die a sacrificial death—something that cost God dearly. Mankind is certainly not entitled to this. No, it is a gift from God.—Romans 4:4; 5:8; 6:23.

    *** w03 8/1 p. 21 "You Received Free, Give Free" ***

Those who have the hope of living forever on earth are likewise recipients of "a free gift." This gift includes the privilege of being declared righteous as Jehovah’s friends.—James 2:23; Revelation 7:14.

    *** w03 11/1 p. 30 Cultivate a Giving Spirit ***)

Christ’s ransom is the basis and channel for God’s "indescribable free gift," that is, "the surpassing undeserved kindness of God." (2 Corinthians 9:14, 15)

    *** w03 8/1 p. 21 "You Received Free, Give Free" ***

Christ’s ransom sacrifice also makes it possible for all Christians to serve as ministers of God. The apostle Paul wrote: "I became a minister of this [sacred secret] according to the free gift of the undeserved kindness of God." (Ephesians 3:4-7) Having been called to this ministry by means of a provision they did not deserve or could not earn, true ministers of God could hardly expect to be paid materially for sharing the news of this provision with others

    *** w96 2/1 p. 7 What Must We Do to Be Saved? ***

Salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned

    *** w78 3/1 p. 6 The Sermon on the Mount—Happinesses 6 Through 9 ***

This ‘reward in the heavens’ (that is, from God) is not in the sense of wages earned for work done. Under no circumstances can sinful humans earn God’s favor and obligate him to bless them. (Gal. 2:16; Jas. 2:10) The reward of kingdom blessings is an "indescribable free gift," an evidence of God’s benevolence and generosity. (2 Cor. 9:15; Jas. 1:16-18)

QUALIFYING FOR LIFE IN THE NEW WORLD

    ** w00 4/15 p. 6 Take Comfort in Jehovah’s Strength ***

In order to qualify for life in that Paradise, Laimonis made great changes. He turned from liquor, and his transformation has not gone unnoticed by his neighbors and acquaintances

    *** w00 4/15 p. 18 The New World—Will You Be There? ***

    21

It is not presumptuous to imagine living in God’s new world. He invites, even urges, us to worship him in truth now and to qualify for life when ‘they will do no harm nor cause any ruin in all his holy mountain.’ (Isaiah 65:25)

*** w97 8/15 pp. 17-18 "Soundness of Mind" as the End Draws Close ***

Perhaps some still need to make changes and adjustments in order to qualify for the gift of everlasting life. Let us therefore look at areas where some adjustments might be needed.

    *** w90 3/1 p. 4 You Can Find Joy in a Depressing World! ***"

Previously, I saw just the utter uselessness of life and so many ugly things, but now I became convinced that I could live in a new world where God would correct all these injustices. With God’s help I could qualify for such a blessing; thus, my life took on real meaning."

    *** w87 8/15 p. 17 Youths—Are You Spiritually Progressive? ***

God’s promised new world and of the glorious future that awaits those who qualify for life there. (2 Corinthians 4:4; Proverbs 29:18; 2 Peter 3:13)

    *** w87 9/15 p. 7 How You Can Make True Friends ***.

Moreover, we will thus qualify for another great privilege—everlasting life on a cleansed earth under God’s Kingdom. (Matthew 6:9, 10)

    *** w81 12/15 p. 24 Zealous for "the Work of the Lord" ***

The "slave" wants to see all the "great crowd" qualify for life in the earthly realm of that kingdom

    *** w80 1/15 p. 19 Are You a Loyal Subject of God’s Government? ***

Is your conduct qualifying you for life then?
