There's nothing better than a CPAP with a humidifier included. I have mine cranked at max humidity all the time.
Mine is a compact and silent ResMed S7. Add a CozyTube to the hose to muffle the sound even further.
I Love it.
I HATE when the hose falls off! Because as soon as it does, there's no air coming and you feel like you're going to suffocate!! That and the noise, it definitely wakes you up!
I have taken to wedging some kind of heavy object in front of the hose because otherwise the seal is not tight enough and it will invariably pop itself off.
No Apologies
My nostrills are sure sore from the pressure of the air, as well as my constantly sniffing from a cold I'm catching. The air being dry is also making things difficult. I wish one day to be able to go to sleep like normal people,
Prophecor, you don't have a humidified CPAP machine with ramp?
I have an Aria. The mask has a couple of ports for humidifiers and methamphetamine vapors. Maybe I should hook them up?
methamphetamine vapors
Onacruse, that reminds me. . .anyone else on Provigil?
...but (and my Mom has told me this point-blank), they deliberately and consciously chose not to have this done for me because Armageddon is right around the corner!!!
On a related note, my mother used to express great regret for not getting any of her four children braces when we needed them--for precisely the same reason: Armageddon was coming. Our dentist, Dr. Dusty, was a fellow JW, and he even reinforced this reasoning.
Here's the information about Provigil.
What is PROVIGIL, and what does it do?
PROVIGIL is a medication to treat excessive sleepiness caused by certain sleep disorders. These sleep disorders are narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), and shift work sleep disorder (SWSD). |
Onacruse! I've got to tell you about the noise that I make when I'm sleeping! When my husband was in the hospital, I was sleeping in this chair and of course was making the characteristic sound when I sleep. The nurse said to me did you know that you were moaning in your sleep. I asked her if it sounded like a moan or a hum? She said yes it's more of a hum. Since my right vocal cord is paralyzed, the other one doesn't quite close my airway; so when I fall off to sleep I hum. This hum awakes me initially when I'm falling to sleep. When I get to a deeper sleep mode, it doesn't bother me. My husband is used to the sound. The one that terrifies him is the wheeze or stridor! That man will yell at me to wake up! I hate that! I'm like I was just getting into a good sleep. Then he'll tell me that I was wheezing and MAKE me get up and take the inhaler. Of course, this is an Albuterol inhaler that usually makes my heart beat about 120 beats per minute! Sigh!
Oh! And those big arse Humibid DM pills is enough to make you choke to death! I have to break mine in half.
It ain't easy having a sleep disorder! The definition below describes what I have.
UARS -- Upper Airway Restriction Syndrome -- is a condition that's worse than "Socially Incorrect" snoring but less serious than sleep apnea. It implies that your airway is restricted during sleeping but not actually blocked, as would happen with moderate or severe apnea.
