This is true. I am still waiting for the full change of understanding regarding responsible members of the great crowd to take over GB positions in the future, even though currently, JW understanding is that only those of the anointed can assume a GB position.
But back to the hypocrisy issue. If this article was not written for the UN situation as it seems that would be too quick to print, then there must be another form of hypocrisy that will eventually be revealed in due time thanks to all of the members here. How many other forms of hypocrisy can the WT commit???
Hmmm, what is the hypocrisy that is about to come to light? It's unlikely to be anywhere near the top, unless this is a signal of knives being sharpened for a coming power struggle. If that's the case, it's a pity this didn't happen after Franz's death; back then, the internet wasn't the force for exposing every word whispered in secret in Bethel's bedrooms that it is today.
It's more likely to be about the R&F. Perhaps about the YKs and Jabriols who insist on bad association on the 'net, even when they've been told not to.

The magazines still come in the mail? They stopped that in Canada at least 10 years ago. I thought it was like that everywhere. Instead of mailing them, we used to drive slowly around town delivering them, and the big pay-off was we could count the time.

What stood out to me when I read it was how soft it was. Hypocrisy was not condemned in the normal fire and brimstone tirade but we should 'have a balanced view of hypocrisy' and asks why would we give up association with 'good friends' because of the hypocrisy of a few?

If you had lived in those days, like other honesthearted people you might have been truly sickened by such religious hypocrisy.(Romans 2:21-24;2Peter2:1-3)But would you have allowed the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees to embitter you to the extent that you would reject all religion, including that which was taught and practiced by Jesus Christ and his desciples? Would that not have been to your disadvantage?- bold mine
So are they trying to get the message out that it would also be to the disadvantage of dubs to reject the WTS even though their leaders are hypocrites?
Also on page 21:
The very barriers that we build for protection against hypocrisy can, in effect, turn us away from genuine friends. Our response should be reasonable and balanced.
Just because your religious leaders are hypocrites, don't loose your friends over it.
on page 22:
When others at times do things that seem hypocritical, we must be careful not to label them hastily as hypocrites.... But this slip on the part of Barnabas and Peter surley did not put them in the same catagory as the scribes and Pharisees or Judas Iscariot. - bold mine
Just because you find out that your leaders are hypocrites, we are not as bad as those other hypocrites in christendom. If we do it it's just a slip.
Meanwhile, why should we allow the hypocrisy of others to affect us to the point that we are deprived of the genuine love of true friends?
Now whats more important, don't loose your friends over the fact that your leaders are hypocrites.
I beleive that this soft talk is due to the fact that the article is written for the R&F JWs on how they should treat their religious hypocrites leaders and not how the WTS views those who they concider to be religious hypocrites (all religious but theirs).
IMO this is another example of do what we say, not as we do. And that is what makes them the biggest hypocrites of all.

DanB, it is a postage issue..so far the US Post Office still offers rates low enough the the WTS will still mail the magazines to subscriber's home. Postage is outasite in Canada. Amazing when you consider that publishers no longer pay for a subscription. Shows how everything is not uniform. The donation arrangement for the publications was just introduced worldwide...up till then it was only in certain countries.
I read the Hypocrisy article also. I was amazed at how we are admonished to reject Christendom because of hypocrisy (we tell people to examine their religions and get out), and yet we are here being asked to tolerate it when it is apparent in the JW org. And yes, it is readily apparent, as the Society is here admtting, that there is indeed hypocrisy in their organization.
Does anyone know who wrote the hypocrisy article?

Regarding TWBTS,in order to save it,(or rather what
is still of benefit to Jehovah's sheep)they will just
about have to destroy it.But be careful in your harsh
criticisms or joyful outbursts over their comeuppance,
for that will only signal that Jehovah will now focus
attention outside of His organization,having started the
cleansing of His own house first.A reformation back to
the 2 original commands of Jesus Christ is the only way
back to balance and truth.May Jehovah's will prevail.
