"Praying the gay away" didn't work for me. Frankly, all it did was increase the level of self-hate and the distance I felt from my Creator, thus reinforcing the sense of spiritual failure with which the JWs indoctrinated me.

If you're going to examine Christian responses to homosexuality, you might want to carefully consider other options. Soulforce, for one, is a group made up of Christian gays and lesbians (www.soulforce.org/). There's also: The Gay Christian Network: www.gaychristian.net/ and Truth Sets Free: www.truthsetsfree.net/.

At the very least, take a look at some critical information about "reparative therapy" (which has been thoroughly discredited by both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association): Truth Wins Out www.truthwinsout.org/

If you're determined to attempt to change yourself, best to you. But please consider all the options.

I'm not gay so I don't have any personal experiences but from what I've heard, reparative therapy has a very low success rate. Most of those treated eventually go back to a gay lifestyle.

Maybe you're not gay. Before attempting reparative therapy you may want to seek therapy first, to learn what your orientation is.
