Hello Choosing,
I've seen Yes several times.
How's about some Tales from Topographic Oceans and Close to the Edge.
21st Century Schizoid Man from King Crimson was about 30 years ahead of it's time.
I'm gettin' motivated to dig through some of my vinyl.
Buddy,Choosing, and whoever cares(don't mind me I'm drinking some really nice Scotch),
I used to confound my HS teachers by wearing a ratty black Doors t-shirt. I think they knew I wouldn't stay in the cult forever.
Was Jim M. insane or what. I was mortified the first time I played, "Mother, I want to.........Father, I want to..........."
Yes, Yes was, well Yes!
King Crimson, quite good, but no yes.
Plenty of good ol progressive rock bands in that era, yes, no?
Nvrgnbk,
Close To The Edge For Me. I still have a triple album from Yes. 21st Century Schizoid Man, now your bringing back some memories.
Never got to see Yes, though.
Bro. A,
How about Relayer, that's got to be Yes's most out-there piece of work, no?
Relayer, that was out there, yes.
Close to the edge, Yessongs, Going for the One, Tormato, Fragile- 'em were gooooooooood!!!
Yeah Choosing,
Close to the Edge will be going back into rotation in the nvr castle.
Bad Religion they rock,
and Sinner by Drowning Pool a freak album to bad the lead singer died after making it.
The album I played most when getting out was Sarah Mclaghlin's mirrorball.
There are many songs on that album that were very personal for me. I had just seperated from my husband so songs like "path of thorns" really touched me deep. I was betraying everything I knew with a new man, so " sweet surrender" tore me apart everytime I heard it, yet I played it over and over. I truely felt like there was nothing left of me.. I was new and raw and sore and exposed, this song described exactly how I felt.. every word.
Sweet Surrender
It doesn’t mean much
It doesn’t mean anything at all
The life I’ve left behind me
Is a cold room
I’ve crossed the last line
From where I can’t return
Where every step I took in faith
Betrayed me
And led me from my home
And sweet
Sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
You take me in
No questions asked
You strip away the ugliness
That surrounds me
Are you an angel
Am I already that gone
I only hope
That I won’t disappoint you
When I’m down here
On my knees
And sweet
Sweet
Sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
Sweet
Sweet
Sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
And I don’t understand
By the touch of your hand
I would be the one to fall
I miss the little things
I miss everything
It doesn’t mean much
It doesn’t mean anything at all
The life I left behind me
Is a cold room
And sweet
Sweet
Sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
The song from that album that is most current for me is Hold on which breaks my heart. Knowing my man's health is unpredictable.. well it's just too applicable. I wake up every day hoping for a "good day" for him.
My current fixation is Natalie Merchant, during her ten thousand maniacs era, in particular. I just really love her voice!
