All I remember when I was a ministerial servant was that it was a conscience matter, along with every other rule. It was always a matter of conscience. If you didn't want to follow it, then don't. So what if some overzealous elder won't see you in a good light. But I always forget that in this forum we have all the extreme cases of people who actually did everything they were told no matter what.

Then why would they still disfellowship/disassociate anyone, if there isn't an issue here at all???? What would be the basis of saying that a person had disassociated himself, if s/he had not done anything forbidden????

I think it's safe to say that the man with the axe is forbidding the drinking of the water by his actions but trying to escape responsibility with his words. The tried-and-true tactic of thugs everywhere. -

This is one of the things that weighed on my mind. In 1994 when my first daughter was born, I nearly died. I was bad off for a few months afterward. Several sisters came by to sit with me while my husband was at work. One of them was the wife of an elder. Somehow we got on the subject of blood transfusions - which of course I did not have. She told me that it was a conscience matter as long it was my blood that had been stored for my future use. Now, I had been raised in the truth and had no gaps in my faith allowing me to miss this big announcement...so I thought she was just nuts. I started asking around and a few other people had read the same info in one of the magazines. How can such a big doctrine just change so non-chalantly like that? And they do still have the cards for NO BLOOD, my mother has one issued Jan 2007...I guess for those who refuse blood according to their own conscience.

It's a curious finding how ignorant dubs are of their own basic dogmas,I knew (1984) a highly respected elder from the Campton New Hampshire Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses,who told me that if either he or his wife died they had agreed to stay single and not remarry and wait until the resurection to unite again in marraige.Jesus himself said the raised dead don't marry.

I'd say 10 or 15 years, maybe. They've already taken the first step with the statement in the November 2006 KM that "The Bible does not give specific direction on the subject of fractions." When the Bible is silent on a matter, you can either take the approach that it does not specifically permit it or that it does not specifically forbid it, depending on what you wish to impose on others. Just the fact that they've started presenting the "not specifically forbidden" version means that they now wish blood to be seen as acceptable and are actively looking for reasons why. The next step will be a statement that "The Bible speaks only of eating whole blood, it does not give specific directions on its medical use..." But this has to take place a bit further down the track when medical use of blood fractions has been acceptable for as long as most can remember, thus making it a fairly minor change. Oh, and expect quite a bit of "Should a true Christian feel that Jehovah was unrighteous in allowing many to lose their lives by choosing to reject something that they might now accept without consequences? On the contrary, faithful Christians are overjoyed that their loved ones had the opportunity to publicly demonstrate such unwavering faith..." etc.

DEADLY DOGMA The real deal on why Jehovah's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions.
Jehovah's Witnesses have a non negotiable doctrine of their belief system to reject blood products.
The origin of this dogma comes from their founding father Joseph Rutherford in the early 20th century.The consumption (eating) of blood was strictly forbidden under old testament kosher law. The Watchtower leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses saw fit to extend this prohibition over to their belief system.
They thought that the "end of the world" was coming back then (ca.1940) so there would never be much causality.
It is well into the 21st century,with the "end of the world" on hold,the Watchtower leaders have blood on their hands,with the deaths of innocent minor children.
Many children have died since rejecting life saving blood transfusions.Why do they maintain adherence to this archaic creed at all cost? Answer:The man-made Watchtower cult is run by lawyers who know they would be sued out of existence for wrongful death suits,if they dared to outright repeal the bogus no blood ruling now. UPDATE:The absurdity of the Watchtower rulings now allow any of the COMPONENTS of blood to be transfused, but not whole blood, and yet people are dying and lives and families are being ruined over a few old men who are always changing their minds on this matter.
