Remnant in Great Britain. Dead or Alive.

    Hi

I remember reading probably in some old Kingom Ministries where the number of Memorial partakers in Great Britain was reported. I'll see if I can retrieve them. From memory it was in the hundreds.

I would assume the vast majority were and always have been in the USA with Britain as the 2nd largest provider.

Now when I was growing up in the 'truth' in the seventies and eighties there were a couple that I personally was aware of. They are dead now and I don't know of any in the surrounding area.

Does anyone know of any longtime partakers still alive.

    Elsie Elliot (Dead)........................South Wales

    Freda Cadreman (Dead).................South Wales

    Thanks

I have heard about Joey(a sister) that is one of the Anointed in London Bethel. Anyone know her?

I met one a few months. A proper pre-35 one, really old, had been pioneering for like 60 years or something ridiculous. Poor guy, what a waste of a life. I don't remember his name though, which possibly makes this a rather pointless post... But yeah! They're still some around!

All the "anointed" in my part of the country are considered to be crazies. Even the COs hold them in disdain.

Sorry. After I posted I realized that the topic applies specifically to UK. Apologies.

Whether dead or alive they are non entities in the WTS, the GB recently explicitly stated their long time policy, that they don't want the "anointed" remanent to think that they have any special function or privileges but should instead be in subjection to the non anointed elders and to the GB. I left long ago and the two anointed I knew died as I was informed. Back then one of these was very bitter for not being allowed to make even a ten minute talk at the KH. He had served the org loyally for several decades as missionary and special pioneer.

I think there may have been two or three in the surrounding area when I was growing up. I remember my father and some of the elders taking the memorial emblems to a person too infirm to attend the KH (the cut-off point was sunset next day, so as to still be on Nisan 14), but I think they died. There was another anointed funeral I attended (why should we be sad, when this dead person has become a King! is what the talk was. A bit silly really.) The last one dying that I was aware of was a relative of a member of the GB who lived in the area nearby.

I was asking my parents about this and as far as they're aware there are basically none left that they know of, in the north of Scotland at least). But then again if someone claims to be an anointed one for long enough eventually, in a few decades, they, too, will be thought of as an 'old-time anointed'.

Anyway the dwindling number of anointed seems to have become less relevant to Witness eschatology now that the Watchtower seemed to change the view on whether there would still be some alive at Armageddon (in the last paragraph of the Watchtower study, of all places! That's really sneaky, not the place you expect to see a major doctrinal change. Was it in the first WT of 2007?)

I knew a few in England, and there was one in our Circuit in Scotland, albeit nouveux (50s). Bethelite "Joey" was well thought of, albeit quite quiet. She was still there when I visited five and a half years ago.

A few years ago , a Bethelite told me that it was reckoned that there were about twenty of the "pre 1935" anointed still alive in the UK , and about 200 in total who partook (most of whom were regarded as not "genuine anointed"). Presumably some of these have died since then , so I would guess about only half a dozen of the "old school". The vast majority of the anointed are in the USA - the WTS for good reason doesn't publish a country by country breakdown.

They used to publish the country's figures in the KM, didn't they?

    When did they stop that?
