When I was a witness, I was impressed with all the friends I had or thought I had. I think the friendship is something that makes people think twice about leaving. Since I have left I dont care about people or friends. I have come to call friends aquaintences. I have a lot of aquaintences. As many as I can stand. I have a wife and a grown son. I don't know how friends help one survive in the world. You need a job to survive. You probably have to get along with the people you work with. Are they your friends or just your coworkers that you get along.with. I guess being raised as a witless i was taught I dont need friends. At least not friends who dont live in a kingdom hall. If I didnt have a mate perhaps I would think I need a friend, maybe thats what I'm missing about your post. But with a wife and a full time job. I wouldnt have time for any friends. With a wife and a full time job, I don't even have time for me.

Oh yes, Welcome to the board.

    Welcome!

took a long long time to rehabilitate and among one of the things I had to do was learn to make friends. When you're in an organisation such as the Watchtower Society, you have automatic friends, don't have to work too hard to make friends.

Kinda; I had a lot of acquaintances, but their recent behaviour disqualifies them from ever having been 'friends'.

When you leave, you realise you don't always have the social skills necessary to survive in the 'world'

Too true - so many conversations start with 'so which congregation are you from.... oh so you'd know...'

    Life is so great now!!!

Welcome, glad to see that you re-established a new social life after leaving the dubs, there are out there in the world many people that are much nicer and helpful than the average dub. They try to demonise the world by focusing exclusively on its bad elements but who needs to be in touch with these?

Hi alotlikemay and welcome to jwd. I know exactly what you mean and felt the same way until I found this board. It has been a real learning curve for me to find out that people in the 'world' aren't bad as wts like to spout. I've met a lot of great people on this board and made friends I know I will still be clsoe to in years to come and I think you will too.
